Hey! So you know how you have things you reeeaaallly wanna do in your lifetime? Well I had one thing I really wanted to do ever since I became interestedin Stained Glass art...go to Spectrum Glass Factory and do the tour. I was going to Seattle this last weekend, and Klinger said why not go to the Glass Museum while you are down there? She has been and HIGHLY recommended it! So then I realized I had a long lost dream of going to Spectrum too! So I did both!!!! WOW!!!! I was so emotional standing at the doors of Spectrum...that I couldn't go in until I "gathered" myself together....it was then that I realized that this was one of my bucket list goals! So here are some pics I took, they don't let you take pics of inside the glass factory, so I only have the entrance pic!lol! But you can look up the web page and take a virtual tour. And the Chihuly Bridge of Glass was sooo amazing!!!

I will put that on my bucket list too.
I am ready to go just need someone like Jack Nichols to bankroll the trip.

So when I was at the Glass Museum, I bought these 2 items to remind me of my trip and WHO talked me into it!!! I will drill holes in the heart to be able to make a hanging art pc with these two items...

Thank you to Cindy for opening up your place for this event. What a wonderful and friendly group of people and so generous with their plants. I think I will be busy, especially finding new homes for the numerous Daylilies from Marj. Thank you Marj and I look forward to watching the Saskatoon bushes grow. Hey yall! yes I made it ok. Got here about 9pm. Today was our first class with Rianna. Boy, we are learning so much. It's harder than I thought it would be. The metal lath can be very sharp, some folks have gotten some good cuts! You should see some of the projects folks are working on. Roni is making a strawberry!! Looking very neat! Roni's mom is making an angel. The rest of us are making head planters/sconces. You should see the mosaic pieces brought in for the show. WOW!! I can't wait to show you pictures!! And by golly, you wouldn't believe Slows house. Amazing..words can't describe it... Wish yall were here with us!!

OH MY!!!! HOW COOL!!! I have high speed internet and it was instant and very neat to watch!! My local stained glass gals are totally old school too! They told me to buy a kiln instead of a saw!!! I made my board like that, hmmm where is it?! He makes it look so easy!lol! I just seem to move the glass some how! If I'm using a ruler, I move the ruler some how!! Even if it is a T ruler!!!! I'm so hopeless! I just can't seem to wanna spend time practicing! WOW! Your teacher sounds really nice, and thorough! To teach you with clear glass and taking all these weeks! I went to a 4 wknd course and barely learned the fundimentals!!! So what is your copperfoil project looking like? I love the copper foil method, haven't done the leaded glass as of yet, 7rs!lol! Bought all the stuff and haven't gotten there yet! If you are like me, before long you will have 1/2doz window projects in mind, a bunch of lampshades ya wanna do...the list is endless!!ha! Just don't loose momentum on a project!!! My peacock panel is STILL not done and it's been like, 5yrs!!! Oh my! That's insane when I type it out loud!!! I can feel the excitement you are generating as you share this adventure with all of us and it inspires me!!!! Thanks for including all of us! It is wonderful!!! Jane

Finally got to read this thread! What with a computer problem and watery eyes, I got all behind. As regards having a house elf, that would be lovely. When I returned to work about 40 years ago, after the children went to school, I tried employing neighbours who were 'stay at home mothers' to do a little cleaning for me but after a couple of weeks they decided that they liked having their own money and got fulltime jobs! I picked up a couple of audiotape books from my local library for $1Aust each, that is really cheap! I have not tried listening to books until recently but found it ideal as I could not read for too long with the watery eye problem. Now I'm hooked because I have to listen word-for-word instead of skipping as I often do. It does seem to depend on the person reading how much I enjoy the book. Sometimes I disagree with their pronunciation and correct them as I would have done with my children when they did that! I have picked up an edition of Thackeray's "Vanity Fair" which has his illustrations. Very interesting but it was a pity that he did not like Regency fashions and clothed the characters in mid 19th Century styles. I could not relate to them like that. We are used now to seeing the correct dress in the TV and film versions usually although the Greer Garson 'Elizabeth Bennet' was dressed incorrectly, I seem to recall.

How exciting. Hope you don't break the heart when drilling. Couldn't you use a strong adhesive instead of drilling and taking a chance on shattering it. What a wonderful experience. Thanks for sharing the excitement w/us.

Thanks! It really was sooo much fun...altho I wish I had been sharing this fun with a fellow artist, but all in all, it was such a great experience. I have 3 days off and plan to work on my Newest WIP!

Wow, thanks for those pictures! I go up to Seattle occasionally, and will have to put that on my list of places to visit next time I'm there. Where was the other factory you toured? Now you've got me wondering if there's any here in the San Francisco Bay Area....

Got The ODE To Klinger done!!!! Took Slow's advice and decided that I would use my stained glass tools on this heart, it is a 1/4inch thick x 2 inch heart, so I wrapped it with 1/4inch wide copper foil, then soldered and added hooks(wire)!
Loribee2: There is a stained glass factory in Oregon called Uroboros Glass. I toured Spectrum Glass and Tacoma Glass Museum.

Oh how wonderful that is. Sooooo glad you used your multi-talent to make the combination. That is sooooo creative - so YOU (the creaation) and it looks like Cindy!!!

Wow, that's beautiful. Wonderful pics of the Chihuly, I love his work. That looks even more stunning than the Bellagio pieces.

You are so creative to put those pieces together, looks so nice that way.

It's funny you say bandaid alert, cuz I am typing with a bandaid on as I have been playing with those wedi board clips and actually cut myself on them!!! OUCH!

Beautiful photos! Love the tribute too. I too was amazed by the blue things.

I don't know when we will go back to Seattle, but def have to go to these places. Makes me realize I should google glass and mosaic for anyplace i visit!

Someone here needs to write a guide book! I have books that tell me where to visit gardens everywhere.
