This is a Christmas gift for my Dad. It's a shadow box, and I'm going to put a light inside it.

As you can tell....I don't follow patterns very well......

feels to confined, that's another reason "stained glass"

is so hard for me!

I even checked my spelling on my subject this time!!haha

I always forget to look at that!

Hazie, How beautiful. I never knew that stained glass could look so 3-D. The fence is amazing. You are the awesome one! Oh the bird and flowers are just incredible too! WWWWWOOOOOOWWWW!!

Well thanks again, y'all. BECKY, it is REAL simple to make - just find a box or a drawer, turn it upside down on a piece of large brown craft paper, draw around it, then draw a header for the top, cut it out w/a jig saw, then make a one-inch border on the inside of your side lines and a 1 3/4" border on the inside of your top/bottom lines, w/a drill make a hole inside those lines, then w/your jig saw go into that hole, cut out the hole, leaving the border, then tack your facing onto the box, and viola you have a little shrine - a blank canvas and just do whatever your "art" desires on it. REALLY easy. Thing that took me the longest was cleaning off my garage work table so I could make it. LOL. NT - on the paint job, I meant to give it a weak umber wash and was so anxious to hang it up, I forgot. Thanks y'all.

Thanks Every One!! you are so sweet to go look and comment. Was on my computer most of the day working on books with my wireless card PULLED until I finished up or I NEVER would have gotten as far as I did. LOL Believe me I would rather be here or nipping glass or china. Bright you come on over we have a nice guest room. Come on a weekend and we will shop until we drop. Yard sales and junk stores. Anything special you are looking for I will keep an eye out. Honestly I TRIED so hard to go abstract on this table because I think this table would have been wonderful for it.My brain will just not turn that way. If you all looked at the other things I did then you can see it always comes out the same so I guess that is my style. Sigh Hazie ARE YOU KIDDING??? You want MY stuff for inspiration?? SURE I would be honored. I am sorry I could not get the pictures to the front of the album. When I go to them there are thumbnails and you can see the last two. I did not mean for you all to have to look through all of them. I will work on trying to fix that next time. Diytrying That is funny "Messitup Geometric" I could try geometric and then twist it to abstract. Maybe that will work. Squirley the arrangement of the china are little strokes of luck. I just keep nipping until something works.I have had to peel it al off more than once and that hurts. LOL WE live in a very small manufactured home and YES most of this stuff is in the house. There are a few pieces out in my studio just sitting on shelves. Not sure where to put them. My hubby said this would be our last move after 10 moves in 20 years so I am holding him to it. He accuses me of making the furniture so HEAVY we will not be able to move it. I shudder to think of having to wrap all my furniture in bubble wrap. LOL LOL LOL Annie as far as my husband Liking Shabby Chic. Eye Roll I do not think he does like it. We sort of had this little bitty fight=HUGE fight when we moved to this little house that just happens to have a shop building much larger than the house. I agreed to move here if I could do whatever I wanted to and with the house. Hubby can always go live in HIS shop and come home for meals. I am SO BAD BAD BAD. As long as he can have his recliner in front of the TV and can walk through each room to get to kitchen and bath and living and bedroom the rest of the house is MINE MINE MINE!!!! I know it is a lot of goofy stuff but it makes me smile and sometimes laugh at my own insanity. I sometimes wonder what will happen if I ever decide I do not like mosaics? Not that that will happen. I will say the mosaic pieces everywhere cuts down on clutter because I do not want to set things on my work and cover it up. Hehehe Ladyronnie. I just remembered a medicine cabinet I had that is calling to me. My Toilet paper tower might get put on hold. Going to have to put them both in the bath and see which one wins. Oh Do I Hear Ya!!! I was practically frothing at the mouth to get into my room!!! I had to wait for the floor and just wanted to leave it bare concrete so I wouldn't have to wait!!!lol! I've just been talking to Klinger who is getting ready to move into her Studio(YIPEEE!!!) and we were just talking about all this, and I recommend a table on wheels and a hanging flourescent light(the cheap workshop kind) hanging right over the table, with the more like sun, bulbs, and the only thing I would change is that I bought a nice thick plywood for the surface, but didn't know there was different grades...thuse I have dips and grains running thru it so it isn't the greatest for cutting on as it isn't a level surface!!!grrrr, but as I do most of my cutting on the light box, it's okay. I cut right on top of the glass of the lightbox!!! No problem! Well, there is usually a pattern underneath it...I am SURE you can make do with a desk and a countertop, just get some shelves for your tesserae and such...I also found a sort of filing cabinet/shelf that I turned on it's side to place/store my glass in, works like a charm!!! I purposely put this near the window so as I pull out the glass from the shelves(cubbyholes), I can see thru the glass with the light from the window...I got a lot of my ideas from here, but we seem to be more about mosaics these days(faster and more forgiving!lol)Anyhoo, My Art Room is always evolving!!! I really liked the idea that Flag used for her Studio and had to copy it about using glass jars as a way to store my tesserae, and I built the narrow(1x4) shelves..Love em!!!(In this pic you can see the glass shelf, glass saw and grinder and lightbox, all handy to my table/w/the light above)Oh, plus I have 2 of those magnifying lights, one on the table and one on the glass saw/grinder table!) Handy lil devils!!! And on the rollng table I attached a powerbar to plug my solder iron and light and tumbler etc into....I just wanted to say that this post has inspired me so much, by chatting about all this, that I am CLEANING up my room!!!!lol!!! So I can get in there and enjoy it again!!!ha! Here is a link that might be useful:

Oh my goodness... it's beautiful!
There is so much for me to learn by just looking at your work! The way you have chosen the lines in the glass to create the 3-d look on the posts, boards and stones, etc. We live in the woods... love the birds... and one day.. I would like to use a pattern similar to this.

Now... very important... would I be right that you used both a saw (Taurus) and grinder in creating this??? (Looking for reasons to invest $in those things. :)

WOW..........the detail.....how on earth did get the deatailing on the rocks..so beautiful! I love the "nature" look of this piece...the bird and the flowers are just so beautiful..........this is just going to be a big WOW.....you're getting as fast as our QUEEN!

Fabulous gog!! You ARE getting as fast as Queen Slow!!! Very interesting and informative to see how you are adapting the pattern as you go to accommodate both your style and mosaics vs. leaded stained glass! Makes me wanna try one, too!

Google has a spell checker if you download the toolbar. It works, but you have to remember to use it LOL. As you can tell from my posts, it doesn't always help!!

Thanks everyone. I've been staying up till all hours the last few days, trying to get things done. So glad hubby and DD can sleep through all the grinding and sawing!

Fiddlekate.... I couldn't live without my grinder. The saw
is only needed for a few cuts. When you start using patterns
the saw is a must. You just can't make some cuts without it.

I was thinking a lamp kit with the appliance bulb.
I haven't looked to see what's out there yet. I was going to try a string of christmas lights first, and see how well that works.

WOW...are you on a roll, or WHAT? I can't believe the number of BEAUTIFUL projects you've accomplished lately!
And this is going to be another gorgeous one. Wow - I'm loving it!!

It's funny - several lately have apologized for spelling errors - and I didn't even notice them. I think sometimes you know what the word is going to be and your eye just sees what it's supposed to be - like grout instead of grount (or something like that)....I know what it's supposed to be - so no big deal!!

Hazie...look at you go!!!! That is so pretty. It is nice to see you doing some GOG. It is up to your usual standards EXCELLENT!!! Is it out of any special pattern book?? Are you going to grout it?

Your Dad will love it!!! You are so far ahead for the Christmas gifts..Im still in the planning stage...looking for supplies for what I want to do!!!

Chickee......It's a Terra pattern. I'm grouting black. I grout almost everything black these days! I need to look for a different green to fill in, the one I got is too close to some of the leaves. So it's on the back burner
for now, and the torso is up next.

Hazie, what a BEAUTIFUL gog! What a wonderful present. Might have to think about that for a gift - someday.

That is absolutly gorgous!!! Speaking of Christmas lights, have you thought about the rope lights? I think you might get a more even coverage with that. But then, they are quite bright.... Can't wait to see the back ground filled in!
