Douglas Fir Drawer & Cupboard Fronts??

FINALLY getting moving on clearing for building our "forever" home on 6 1/2 ac. in Pac NW. Trying to keep it practical, affordable, and adhere as much as possible to the three R's (you know - reduce, re-use, recycle-recycle-recycle!).

With that in mind....Our property has alot of second-growth medium-sized Doug. Fir and a couple of cedars that will be cleared and we would like to attempt to re-use them in our build. We know that we can have these hauled off and remilled into trim, flooring, etc. etc., but...would like to find a woodworker to make some drawer & cupboard fronts as well. Is Doug Fir a good choice for cabs and drawer fronts?? Will it hold up?? How do we figure how much tree to set aside for these projects (i.e. it takes xx feet of tree to make a drawer front)?? Is this something that would be done by a hobby'ist, or by whoever would mill them for trim, etc??

Also...We have asked the person doing the clearing to stack the trees and leave them, but not sure if we should tarp them to dry (seems like they would sweat and mold??). Or should we have someone lined up and waiting to take them to work with right when they are downed??

As you can tell, we are just a bit "green" in this area, so any tips/insight/direction that could be offered would be GREATLY appreciated!!
