A/C died - gas furnace still good! Good idea to replace w/dual HP
Comments (3)Should I have to ask the contractor to take the capacitor & start kit back or is this something he should suggest himself? I guess I have a bit of a trust issue as he has never suggested replacing the worn out compressor; just jumped in suggesting a new system. I don't even know what a new compressor should cost. We have another contractor coming out this afternoon to give us an estimate but as my husband works out of town during the week & I'll have to deal with this, I am trying to learn what I can so I can know what questions to ask & whether or not what I'm being told is legit. Any help is greatly appreciated!...See MoreReplacing Sliding Glass Doors vs Replacing Glass
Comments (3)Depends on how old the door is and how much wear is on it. When looking at a new door keep in mind that you will get better energy efficiency with a new door, much less possibility of condensation, less air infiltration and better aesthetics. You will also get a 30% tax credit if the new door qualifies. Subtract the tax credit from the price of the door and then look at the difference in price between just replacing the glass as opposed to replacing the entire door....See MoreReplacement glass shade/glass insert for old outdoor light fixture

I was most concerned about finding the beveled glass and did not think it could be made with tempered glass. There were 3 glass companies from whom I received estimates. They each did not make the glass themselves, but were contracted out to glass makers that dealt directly with the glass businesses. The tempered beveled glass matched the existing sidelight glass perfectly which the paint contractor purchased, The estimates were expensive - $608, $628 and $900+ for I believe 4 broken panes - not 3. I was told it would take awhile to get it in, but the company I used called me in 2 days to say it was there. The glass company did the installation....See Morebluebaru
