need help with fabric choices for banquette
Comments (14)detroit, thanks for the zara suggestion. i do like it a lot. i'll have to see if any fabric stores here have some samples of it. i found a few banquette pics on houzz that i liked. do you guys think any of these would look ok in my space? this one is sort of a navy blue? i like the pattern but maybe it is too dark, maybe too traditional for my space, which is sort of dark already... [Traditional Dining Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-dining-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_722~s_2107) by San Diego Interior Designers & Decorators Savvy Interiors this one is very neutral and bright and the style of the house is similar to mine. would that look ok or should i try to bring in more blue? [Mediterranean Dining Room[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/mediterranean-dining-room-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_722~s_2109) by Oakland General Contractors Mueller Nicholls Cabinets and Construction i also like this one which feels fresh, but maybe do blue accent pillows instead? Comments (53)Romy - thank you so much for taking the time to post pics. I have seen many of those since I have been looking for photos of banquettes. TBH, I haven't seen many examples of bold, vibrant colors/prints and that may be a function of people shying away from that look. DH and I still like the idea of brighter/polychromatic print, but we just really need to think this out with swatches in the room. So much for getting the banquette done for Christmas! I'm at work now, but I can get a photo later today of the banquette area. We are still waiting for a lot of trim work to be finished, but you'll get the idea. I had my cabinet maker make the utensil drawer based on a few photos I had seen on Houzz. ::wub:: I'm not sure if it can be retrofitted for the canisters since you need enough clearance for the tops of the utensils. cawaps - thank you for taking the time to mock up a mood board. DH are doing all the design ourselves w/o KD or any designer (we are doing almost a whole house remodel) and while I like to think everything has been well thought out, that obviously hasn't happened consistently! bpathome - the other chairs will be PB Napolean chairs in chestnut stain, which is wood and has an open design in the back. We may put cushions on later - not sure now. kitchendetective - the kitchen has a 5' opening to the family room, which we are still renovating. It's painted BM Cameo White, a creamy white that reads almost beigey-peach in some lights with BM Decorator's White trim. The family room furniture is very nuetral with a beigey sofa and love seat, sage green velvet chairs and cream and brown rug. We have red and white oak mixed floor in a Provincial stain. Interpretation: very bland and neutral. This post was edited by marthastoo on Mon, Nov 4, 13 at 12:18...See MoreNeed help picking a kitchen table for banquette
Comments (10)These are great suggestions, thanks so much! I love the Room and Board table and Design within Reach Zero table - gorgeous! We're going to head out tomorrow and look at those, and hit a few restaurant supply places. I think we could probably replicate the Zero table by getting a base and making our own top. island, our banquette will be installed Monday - we're having custom seating made. It's a small space under the windows and we have cabinets below the banquette for extra storage....See MoreCabinets, colors and banquette help!
Comments (0)Cross post from decorating. First let me say thanks to everyone here for their great help. I know it seems like I'm all over the place but we are finalizing bids and I know I will get a call telling me I need to make choices on final finishes and I want to be able to get opinions here first as I value the input I get here. So thanks for indulging my scatterdness! The new house has a small kitchen, and not terribly attractive. That said, dh is adamant that he doesn't want to remodel, other than new counter and sink. As he does all of the cooking I'm not going to push on that. I may convince him to stain the cabinets at some point. So in order to get a bit more storage I think some built ins in the form of a banquette in the dining area is my best bet. Additionally I'm planning on adding a wet bar in the neighboring great room. I'd like to use IKEA cabinets for the banquette, not sure if I should do matching for the wet bar or if I can change it up or what. So here is the overall layout of the space in question. Here is the kitchen when we bought the house, to show the whole space, only pic I have. And with the new leathered black granite. I am changing hardware to black most likely. This also shows the pass through. And here is where I'm hoping to add the built ins for the banquette. And here is the wall where the wet bar will go. The angled stair wall. As you can see the pass thru to the kitchen is right there. So here is my thought, do black cabinets for the banquette. I like the IKEA black laxarby. Something like this, I will probably do some mixture of doors and open shelves on the upper portions. And wet bar laid out like this. I'd love green cabinets in there but not sure that is too many cabinet styles in one space. My thought was that since you can see into the kitchen from there that the countertop needs to be the same material. And here is what the wet bar would look like in black. But then the black countertop may not be a good choice. let me note here I that the great room is very bright in that there are windows on 3 sides plus skylights. View of great room with previous owners decor. Bar will be where the console and lamp is shown on right side of pic. So so I guess the main thing I need to decide is if the banquette and wet bar need to be matching cabinetry. Thoughts?...See Morepammyfay
