polaris vs simonton, apples to apples?
Comments (3)I'd say that they are pretty close with a slight edge to the thermal weld. They are not apples to apples however in the sense that the thermal weld is Polaris' mid level offering, while the 5500 is an iteration of simonton's flagship. If you compare equivalent levels, the ultraweld is significantly better IMO....See MoreSimonton Windows
Comments (16)+1 to mmarse's comments. In addition, if your contractor has never heard of Simonton then that is a pretty major RED FLAG that he has very little knowledge on windows. Whether you like them or not, they are far and away the most well-known among vinyl manufacturers. Electricguy, the ergonomic/ease of use is a valid issue in that location, however I generally prefer an awning there. More glass, clear view, and costs less than a twin casement. Comments (16)Would you recommend any of the other updates for the Prism Platinum collection (ProSolar upgrade, high energy efficiency, etc) We live in MN, so we have some cold winters. Also, do you know what the U value and air leak value of the Simonton are? Viewpoint emailed me all the data regarding U value and AL value, while Simonton is making me call a specialist Are the Prism Platinum's the best window Simonton makes or is there another window they make that might be better? We are mainly replacing our windows because they are very old and I want my house to look nice. Also, I have heard that Simonton doesn't have very good customer service if there is an issue with the window, has anyone had a good or bad experience with Simonton? Any help would be greatly appreciated....See MoreEcoStarRemodel
