So, here are some pumpkins, christmas trees, a sunflower tray, a grouted flamingo box and its top, a cross and a vase. Cross, flamingo and sunflower tray are grouted other stuff is not. Was playing with grout adding glitter. It didn't work so well for me. I think I want a white grout with lots of glitter. So, the christmas trees kinda look like snow. May just spring for the spectralock, have to check my piggy bank. I finally figured out what to do with my dagger cuts, and then later i figured out how to get the glass to cut all the way-which is shown by the three christmas trees. One with the big star was done with scraps only. You've seen the first one already, I think. Cross was something I did a long time ago and never got around to grouting.

Grouting just isn't my favorite thing, btw.

I like to get a lot of stuff ready to grout before I dig in. I always mix up way too much!
I love your trees. I think I'm gonna have to steal that idea from you.What about just smooshing glitter into the grout before it dries?
The flamingo box is impressive. How long did that take?

Ahhh! I love that quote Karen, that would be perfect for our forum. Wonder if we could request that from Admn.? The quote on the last sign made me laugh when I read it, and since it's mostly just me and DH here at the house now, it seemed to fit perfectly! LOL I have had so much fun reading quotes and sayings, including several great ideas you've found and shared with me during your middle of the night surfing, some of them just make me shake my head and others have me laughing out loud. I've actually found a few that I might be able to use with a tablescape and some neat ones for the various holidays. Jeanne, I'm glad you liked my little blocks. The letters on these are actually adhesive vinyl. (would you believe Contact Paper can be used instead of the expensive craft vinyl?) When I was doing the cardstock letters and Mod Podging them on, I couldn't reposition them again and again the way I can with the vinyl ones. I'm hoping to come up with some neat stuff for the 4th as well as other holidays. It's fun and a good creative outlet as well. Luvs

Both the front and garage door in the example above do have more A&C or Prairie elements. Perhaps check around again to see if other styles would fit a 60s type vibe. Good call to remove the shutters -- the clean-lined windows present a more modern feel! As for colors -- perhaps choose a more mod-and-groovy steely gray color to the overhang and garage door (closer to the roof color) -- and add stainless or silver mod lighting. Perhaps (just for now) simply paint your present door in high-gloss black -- and add a silver doorkick plate? With a black door -- your storm door would "disappear" -- and the whole front would look a bit more visually cohesive. As for planting -- of course -- check with your local garden center for your area planting zone and your soil type. Then create mod flowing lines for your gardens. If possible add a larger focal rock or stone. Then add spiky grasses. A very clean-lined fountain can add a lot of visual interest too. IF you are able to do so in the future -- perhaps add a long patio area to the front -- with modern seating.

Wanda/Sharon, This would have been soooo much easier if I'd been the one to start it! Having to piece back together what someone took apart for some reason has been difficult. I think it all would have been easier if I'd had the strip sets and started it in my own vision. But, it's coming along. It'll get there soon... have too many other things to accomplish that this has to get done so I can move on...

GET THAT CAMERA THING WORKED OUT, GIRLIE!!! Where's DH? Betcha he can fix it. Everything sounds fabulous. You and KLINGER w/have soooooo much fun playing w/the kiln. I want one, but think I've finally decided to let it go. The dichroic glass I would like to play w/is way too expensive for my stingy self. Then the clay, utensils, molds, glazes etc. - well - it's another black hole to pour my pennies down, so I'll enjoy seeing what y'all make.

WOW - somebody has been VERY busy. LOVE all your work. That flamingo is a super mosaic - the side is wonderful too. I hope I can hold my enthusiasm about copying your idea on the trees. I REALLY like the one w/the rectangular cuts. Great way to use scraps and I have lots of them. That TX star is very attractive. I've had one for about a year, waiting in line TBM. Cute pumpkins, and oh, tell us about that sunflower tray process. So much to see I haven't seen before. Great work, SUN.

Glad to know others are up at the crack of dawn. No wonder you get so much done, Slow.

The tray is a $2 thing from an antigue mall. The sunflowers come from a vase I picked up at a yardsale for .50. When my oldest son's girlfriend was here she admired the vase and seemed appalled when I told her my plan was to bust it up. I am thinking of giving her the tray for Christmas. Still have some flowers left that I want to use on a box.

I wanted to experiment with the glitter in the grout. The glitter looks like pieces of sea salt. It's supposed to be antique white grout-looks very blah on these pieces to me. Don't think it added much. The pumpkins were another experiment with thinset and styrofoam. By the last tree I just quit thinsetting altogether-styrofoam only. Hope to get the white glitter grout and do the trees today.

That star got raves and I sold it for a ridiculous amount of money (to me anyway)for what I put in it. I have another I want to do in red/white/blue. The pitcher I did in red with gray grout also sold for more than I ever thought it should. I didn't argue about price, just smiled and took the money.

I am quite proud of the flamingo. Still not sure if it's a christmas gift or not...maybe I'll just keep it!

Sun...your sister won't like it if you keep the flamingo instead of giving it to her!!!! LOL

I loved looking at your stuff. I just did a pumpkin too and I also did a couple of skulls. I'll post pics in another thread, after all, Halloween will be here before you know it and Christmas is right around the corner! I really liked your Christmas trees, great way to use up scraps!

Ok, I must confess that my six year old helped a great deal with the pumpkins. I cut and tumbled glass and he glued. We had GEII on everything. I made him wear a mask while he did it, which he thought was cool. Not sure it saved any braincells though. The clean up on them, which hasn't been done yet is gonna be killer. He is so proud, I would do it again, and again. He has some serious talent if you ask me, but I'm biased!
