New Ceiling Fan, Wiring not Working

In my kitchen I have a ceiling fan/light with a corresponding switch and a kitchen light with a corresponding switch all on the same circuit. It looks like this:

KLS---->KL-------------------F/LKLS=Kitchen Light Switch

KL=Kitchen Light

F/L=Fan/Light

F/LS=Fan/Light Switch

I have replaced the ceiling fan/light with a remote fan/light, but when I use the kitchen light switch it blows the breaker. The only way the remote fan/light works is if the kitchen light switch is off.

The wiring in the Fan/Light box is easy. I am having problems with the lighting in the Kitchen Light Box. I have in there the following:

The Breaker Line

The Kitchen Switch Line

The Kitchen Light Line

The Line connecting the Fan/Light to the Breaker

Help?!

Looks like the previous owner did some "creative" wiring. There are three switches, and I don't know if the wiring from one or two are connected to that electrical box, and only two of the three switches are grounded anyway. I have an electrician coming tomorrow (for something else) so I think I will have him take a look. Thank you for your help!

My best guess is that the toy loosened a connection inside the light fixture. You'll need to open it up and look. I'd do this with the circuit breaker turned off. Check the wire nuts inside that connect the fixture to the rest of the fan. If those are tight and it still doesn't work, it's time for a repair (or replacement) of the fixture.

What you have is a common configuration which is called a 'switch loop'. Power comes in on one cable with the black then connected to another cable which takes the current down to a switch, returning it on the other wire in that second cable. Connect the white from the fan to the white from the power source. Connect the black and black/white to the white from the switch. Connect the green to the other grounds (usually bare wires in the box. The fan should then operate as before, with both the fan and light turned on and off by the switch. (If no light fixture is to be installed, do not use the black/white striped wire)

I'm assuming both switches are on the same circuit and in the same box? Then at the ceiling box, combine the 2 white wires together with the white from the ceiling fan/light and connect one black to the fan and one black to the light. Connect all ground wires.
