We're very happy with our new Eagle windows

Just passing on our experience for anyone who's interested. We have added a breakfast room with a glass patio door and three large slider windows. We priced Pella and Eagle casements (Eagles were less) and the Eagle aluminum clad slide-bys (Pella doesn't make any). I know some people worry about leaks in sliders, but we decided to go with those for several reasons: considerably less expensive than the casements but give the same expanse of window; no window cranks in the way; no screens on the inside. Even the "disappearing" screens on Pella's casement would leave all the bugs(of which we have many here) on the inside when you roll them up. We and our GC have been really pleased with the Eagles. He installed them himself and says they are very well made and he doesn't think there will be any leaking problems with them -- even if it ever rains again here. :-(

We got Pella double hung windows 13 years ago and the grills won't stay in the windows. A long time ago they quit carrying the wretched little plastic pieces that were supposed to hold them in and they're not at all interested in doing anything about the problem. If they're not going to support their products (particularly poorly engineered ones like these were), I'm not interested in doing business with them.
