Marvin Integrity -vs- Andersen 200 Series - Opinions? Experience?

Anyone have any experience or opinions regarding Marvin Integrity (w/wood interior) to Andersen 200 Series (w/wood interior)?

The main difference (that I can tell) is that the Marvin is Ultrex (fiberglass) and the Andersen is vinyl.

After pricing both with local distributors, it looks like the Marvin is approx $70 more per window. Doesn't sound like much, but an extra $1500 towards our already strained budget means a lot to us!

Andersen has a PVC clad frame and a sash painted with PPG's Flexicron. The sill is extremely difficult to flash in my opinion.
Integrity has started providing simulated divided lites I am told but I don't think it is in their catalog yet. I think fiberglass is going to replace PVC in windows very soon if the price of oil keeps going up.

Intergrity's ULTREX in a pultrudes fiberglas that is 8x as strong as Vinyl. Unlike PVC it can be painted with very little prep. There is little or no fading of color for the life of the window. The difference in price it seems will be well served because Integrity (as Ive seen on Job sites) will be around alot longer than Andersons' products using PVC.

Oh NO! Not Adrian Fish AGAIN! Resurrecting a 5-year-old thread. I thought we'd seen the last of him in 2016. I think we determined on the endless thread in 2016 that he could be a competitor of that Johnson lumberyard. Or someone with a personal grudge against whoever owns this lumberyard. Or just someone who enjoys debating on forums who makes up a labyrinth story to get a thread to go on and on. And on. The story didn't hang together in that thread, with holes in it. And there was Adrian's sometimes-coy sometimes-outright refusal to answer key questions, and his odd left-field statements, as had been pointed out several times. Understood and will do windows. I happen to work for an Architectural Window and Door company and we do High End Residential on LI and in NYC(apartments,townhouses etc) and some commercial and our product are for the most part Wood, Wood/Alum, and all aluminum(Schuco,and our own brand Euroteq). So i don't have get involved in vinyl much but i will strive to become better educated in the product.

Kolbe is about on par or maybe a hair behind Marvin in some area and equal in most in my opinion. Now I have not sold residential wood windows in a few years now personally but still do commercial windows and doors but know plenty of people who are in the business currently and sell an awful lot of Kolbe and love the product (they sell Marvin and Loewen as well).

I think I will stop by HD today and by the place that sells integrity to look at the windows again and see what I think of their "looks." I didn't pay much attention on the looks of the windows itself because honestly, I thought it was all the same if same materials are used. My house is a 30y old central hall colonial - nothing historic about it. All the windows right now are made of wood and they have some sort of glass panel in front of them (I guess to help with drafts). The windows are not ugly, but the glass panels - ugh! However, most of them are a pain to operate and that makes me nervous. Especially the ones in my girls bedroom upstairs.

The vinyl on the Andersen is merely a cladding. No cladding, be it aluminum or vinyl, is meant to be structural in any way. So the strength issue is irrelevant. Either technology, if installed properly, will last a lot longer than most of us.
I'm curious how people can make long term predictions on the Ultrex since it's still a pretty new technology.
The first release products of fiberglass had a strength issue, with sills cracking along the strands of the fiberglass. That issue appears to have been resolved, but only time will tell.
Andersen has been successfully using vinyl cladding for about 40 years. The real world success of the products is a testiment to their quality and long lasting ability.
I agree that all manufacturers will be looking into more composite materials for products. How they will shape the industry remains to be seen.
