One more....the love seat opposite the mirror is temporary, and will be reupholstered and moved to a bedroom.

If you center it on that wall, won't the front door hit it when it's opened? I think you'd be better off with something about 4' long maybe.

I love it but I think sueb is right that your door would hit it if you center it on the wall.

The piece does not have to be centered on that wall. It can be centered with the door open. Many times we are limited to the walls and structure of the house, but I was thinking of placing the server in the center of the wall from the door stop to the interior door trim.

I feel if I were to center a piece of furniture on that wall, it would limit me to a much smaller piece of furniture and with the high vaulted ceilings, it would dwarf the piece.

dorry - oh, I wasn't trying to open any cans of worms. I only knew that because I've looked at that piece over the last year; I like it a lot and considered buying it!

Can you do a mock-up (with cardboard or a sheet) to make sure the size works for you? If so, I vote yes.... but that is without knowing what the rest of your house/stuff looks like.

I appreciate everyone's input! Thank you! Some posters feel the server should be centered on that wall, but it is just not possible. If i buy this piece, i have to compromise in the placement. So many variables when decorating and furniture placement. I do like this piece and like the stain. It is light and fun and not stuffy!

I did put painters tape on the floor to outline the piece..it works and there is enough clearance for the door.

I have a piece of furniture that has pointed corners and it was positioned so that we couldn't open the adjoining door fully. Despite being really carful when opening the door, it now has an obvious gauge from where it has hit the furniture corner. It's not a normal reaction to only open a door partially. Be careful is my advice.

If you read the previous posts, I am not placing this piece in the center of the wall. It will be placed between the door stop and the trim on the interior closet door. The entry door will have plenty of clearance. Totally understand what you are sayihg and that is precisely why this piece will not be centered on the wall

Having been in many old houses with similar set-ups with a long entry will, it is not uncommon to place a piece off center so as to conflict with the entry door.

I agree with your placement and did the same with my short entry. My cabinet is not centered on the wall, either, because I like to have the entry door open to get the light through the storm door.
