Owbist...do you also think maybe the reason there aren't so many questions any more is that people are getting more computer savvy (sort of hard to put into words). But..I, as a senior citizen, had a LOT of questions when I got into the world of computers..as time has gone on, I've learned a lot (mostly from reading at this site) and don't have nearly as many questions as I used to have. I still come here from time to time with a question, but not nearly as often as I used to. Others of my generation are about the same as me or never got into learning about computers at all. My children didn't grow up with computers but they had the first video game things that came out and they are computer literate. "Their" children have been using computers since they were in kindergarten. I was just mulling this over...does this make sense to why maybe there aren't so many questions...along with the fact that computers are getting more dependable? I've had a lot of panic times with my computer and this site has been like an old friend. My kids and grandkids don't panic like I did (and still do at times) Snidely...I understand what you have said, but I still might buy from my local repair shop. They will answer any question I might have via e-mail and give me a discount for having purchased my computer from them...and I they are also my internet provider. well many are pay for products and expensive ones at that, I would not pay for them. The ones in that list that are worthwhile programs are mostly free they are. Secunia PSI PC Decrapifier AutoRuns WinPatrol (excellent program) foxit reader if you use firefox ccleaner Ad Block Plus for firefox IE7Pro if you use IE7 Greasemonkey for firefox if you need special scripts. I and others here have recommended many of these here. I do not use or advise the use of registry cleaners so I stay away from any of those, I have seen the damage that happens when things go wrong. there are also windows power toys for xp I use several of those, you can google windows power toys for xp and find the page for them, they are free.

I was just getting frustrated with my ctk03 not working to directly control my humidifier (hum out with 120v on hum in) outputs on my amvc8 furnace. So I went searching for information and it seems that goodman/amana know the ctk03aa unit cannot control humidifiers directly on the furnace, but that an updated version, the ctk03ab, can. (based on a presentation they have on their training site) Do you know if the thermostat can be upgraded to the ab series? If not, I think I need to get some kind of interface module to allow the thermostat to control it separately. Any hints?

I was never able to decrease my low simmer settings. I am suffering along with a couple of flame tamers although even there, if the pot bottom is as large as the tamer, I (not really surprisingly) don't see much if any decrease. I don't believe it was clear with this post, but my old broken glass top KA cooktop had similar bad flame control to yours. I could control low flames perfectly, but I believe all burner flames topped out at a medium setting. My new inexpensive Whirlpool has much better high end flame adjustment range. I have never heard of a universal regulator but if your flames are even semi reasonable (not setting your hair on fire), it must be OK. Ordinarily, you remove the threaded cap in the center and yank out a little plug and invert it so that the outside area is a different height allowing more or less gas to pass a spring loaded plug that rests against the inverted thing.
