what to do?

Last week I posted about the e-mails that were going on between sd and her bm. In a nutshell sd finally got the courage to tell bm that she was mad at her for not calling for months, mad that bm missed her birthday (no call, card, or present) and she told her she thought she was a bad mom. Bm tried giving sd excuses about not calling her for months and my sd is at the age where she saw the excuses for what they were and did not believe them.

Now today sd gets an e-mail from grandparents. Bm forwarded them the last e-mail from sd and they laid into her about how she made her mom so upset now! And they said that her mom also e-mailed her about visiting this summer a while ago and she never responded, that is why her siblings are not visiting there this summer--but if they want to come now they will make travel arrangements! And they said that bm said she tried to call once and nobody answered or returned the call and she text messaged my phone once. None of our caller id's on home or cell phones showed her call and there was no message on any of our voicemails---sounds a little fishy to me!

I do not know if the grandparents have just lost their minds or are that nieve when it comes to their daughters lies!?!

BM NEVER e-mailed any of the kids, or contacted dh or I about summer visitation. We even went through the kids e-mails a little while ago to double check (they never delete e-mails so they were all still there-though the last time bm e-mailed them was late winter). Nothing was ever mentioned about visitation for this summer.

So now grandparents want to talk about visitation?? There are only a few weeks left of summer vacation and we have plans because they never made any with us. We are not cancelling our plans because they waited till the last minute.

And what makes me more upset is the fact that they are trying to guilt trip my sd into feeling bad about expressing her feelings to her mom. They should be yelling at their own daughter for not stepping up to her obligations as a parent---not making my sd feel bad for noticing her moms lack of involvement in her life.

Do you think my dh should contact the grandparents and let them know it really has been months since bm has made contact and the fact that bm has helped with no expenses for the kids in all the years they have been divorced? Maybe if they had both sides of the story they would not feel the need to guilt sd? Maybe they really think that bm is wonderful and sd is being a brat?

We do not want to be rude to them because they are the only ones in bm's family that do keep in touch with the kids--e-mails, phone calls, visits out to us to see the kids, etc. We just want them to take a step back and realize that defending their daughter to her kids may not be the best idea when she really is not telling them the truth about situations and then it makes the kids feel guilty.

Sorry this is so long, it just feels good getting it all out.
