window world vs Thermal Windows
Comments (4)I live in Tulsa, OK and had a couple of friends that had window world install theirs windows 12 years ago and had horrible experiences. One of those friends has already replaced those window world windows with Thermal window, because they ended up sagging so bad and leaking water into the house. I used Thermal Windows and still have lower utility bills then I did 12 years ago when I replaced them. The install crew did an excellent job and cleaned up as they went, it was a great overall experience and I recommend them to everyone....See Morecost of marvin integrity vs infinity windows
Comments (12)Hi Selb, You made a mistake. We actually installed our windows in Sept. 2003, it has been three years. Nope, I am a software engineer in the Silicon Valley. I do not sell windows. I can carry on a long Object Oriented Design conversation longer than I can say much about Sash and frame, just read some of my very none-technical window responses. I registered here in 2003 to ask for help and advice just like other consumers. Unfortunately, no one here answered my questions then. So I decided to be as helpful and as truthful as I can once we have experience with the windows we looked at and purchased. So, just like others here, I am trying to help. I never posted any "response" or "advice" until this year. Even then, I do not dare call my responses "advice" because I am not professional windows person (except Microsoft Windows :-)). They are just personal experience and what we learnt from local windows retailers. I understand many here want to "out" windows salesmen, I applaud your effort. In my case, you are wrong. I challenge you to find a post from me dating to 2005, 2004, 2003. And I challenge anyone to find any of my current posts that "sells" Marvin. We like what we like, we dislike what we dislike, that is not selling, that is telling it like it is. I will continue to share experience good or bad as we have them. You can choose to read them or ignore them....See MorePorch window WeatherMaster Sunspace vs Ez screen vs Eze breeze
Comments (85)I looked at all the vinyl window options and came across energy wise manufacturing out of Schullber, WI. I could not be happier w this product! I have been wanting a screened in porch for many years, but could not justify the cost if it was not used "most" of the year. I live in Richmond, VA where we have mild winters and it is not uncommon to have sunny 60 degree days in Dec/Jan/Feb. These windows create a "greenhouse effect" and allows me to enjoy my screened in porch most of the year. Alot of people thought this idea was crazy - but I am glad I stuck with it and found a company that makes them and was willing to ship them to me. Besides for retaining heat in the winter, I really enjoy the fact that the room stays clean from dust and pollen most of the time. Some people balked at the idea of taking them in and out, and also storing them. But for me it’s worth the trade off. The shipping cost is high ($300.00) especially in my case bc my window openings were SO LARGE (60 X 66). An added bonus is that the shipping container acts as a heavy duty storage container for the windows when not in use. I store the container under my deck. Eugene is a great guy and extremely responsive to his customers! This a unique product and for people who don’t mind the effort, it is the perfect solution to get more use out of a screened in porch. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!...See MoreWhich Window Co to use - Simonton vs NBP vs Preservation?
Comments (7)@mmcclane, I'd agree with that thought. While you can have a successful project the first way, switching the approach will increase the odds quite a bit. Top tier products are not generally installed by companies that don't care about quality, and they are typically vetted for financial stability by manufacturers as well. All of that bodes well for you as a homeowner in finding a good product, good installation, and service down the road when it comes up. I should add that in searching for a good product, familiarize yourself with thermal and structural performance ratings that windows are independently tested and certified for. U value, shgc, condensation resistance, air leakage, and design pressure are the most important to determine how efficient a given window will be, along with offering a good indication of quality as well. With very few exceptions, great windows have great performance ratings, particularly as it applies to vinyl products....See Morekec01
