Some people want the world turned upside down for them

So my skids grandparents responded to my dh's e-mail to them regarding the situation with bm and summer visitation. My dh had said that it was too late in the summer to make travel arrangements now for the kids to visit them out of state because summer was over in a few weeks and we had some plans already so they would not be able to spend more than a week out there, if that. He did mention that they could come out here to visit the kids (they have friends near us that they usually visit each year and see the kids when they are here).

So they e-mailed us back dates that they were already planning on staying with their friends and which of those days they wanted to keep the kids with them. Funny how they never mentioned that before we brought it up.

We e-mailed back saying those dates were fine, but that older sd had made a sports team at school and they will be starting practice by then. The coaches are very serious and the girls are only allowed to miss 3 practices the whole season or they could be kicked off the team. ( We do have one long weekend trip planned for before school starts which will involve her missing 2 practices. We discussed it with the coach and she said it won't be a problem. ) But she really can't miss any other days.

Anyways we told the grandparents she has to be at each practice, but we will help with the driving. They are staying 30 min from our home. We said if they get her to each practice we will pick her up and drive her back to them.

They said this is a big inconvenience and will make it hard to make plans with the kids. We told them we completely understand, but it is not fair to make her miss a season of this sport when she wanted so badly to make the team. We told them we would help in any way we could to make sure she gets to her practices, but that if she doesn't make practices while they are here she runs a big chance of being kicked off the team. SD even says she does not want to risk being kicked off the team. Her best friends all made the team too and she really wants to play.

Honestly, what can they expect. They had all spring to make summer plans with the kids. Now they make plans in the end of July for the beginning of August and they want to complain! I knew this would happen, but we just wanted bm's family to learn that if they do not make plans in advance they will be inconvenienced. Their fault-not ours!

Is it really too much to ask for them to think of summer plans before the end of the summer?
