what can you do?

I posted a while back regarding my cousin and his custody issues. He got temporary custody of his young child because they bm was doing drugs and in jail on a drug charge. Last week they had court and she attempted to get custody changed back to her and when that did not happen she attacked my cousin in the courtroom. She was charged with contempt and in jail for the night. Today my cousin woke up and his car and his girlfriends car both had ALL their tires slashed.

Is there any way to track this to bm? Especially since she just attacked him in court?

any chance there are any witnesses? neighbors? camera's on nearby businesses?

Without 'proof', not much can be done unless he (or someoen else) confronts her and she admits it. Oh, and whoever confronts her should not say "did you slash the tires?" but should ask "what were you thinking when you slashed the tires?" or "Why would you slash the GF's tires, she has nothing to do with this?" Those questions will likely produce her justification or excuse if she really did it, which is somewhat of a confession. An innocent person would be shocked and completely deny doing it. and don't get too confrontational, saying "I know you did it!" will result in defensiveness.

Or is there anyone that is uninvolved in their custody battle that is at all friendly with her? Maybe that person could talk to her and get her to confide/confess. When a person does something like that out of anger, unless they get the anger out of their system, they will continue to vent and if they find someone they think will be a good sounding board, they'll talk about it.

Her frustration and anger are understandable, but she also put herself (and her kids) in that position with her actions and even though she might have the right to be angry, she should be angry at herself and it's never okay to destroy someone else's property. Was he given a restraining order? Maybe he can prove she violated it, even if he can't prove she slashed the tires.

I do not think you can prove something you did not see.

But that does not mean you should not file a police report and have that with next time they go to court. Also, if he does file a report about that happening the police may drive down his street a little more frequently.

I think that the judge would see it as a pretty big coincidence that she attacks him in court one day and then soon after his tires and his gf's are slashed.

Does he have a video camera? Maybe he could put it in a house window that aims out where the cars are parked at night and catch her in the act if she dares to do something like this again. He can re-record over the same tape over and over again.

OR maybe put up some motion sensor lights in that area and a fake camera that looks like the ones in stores. That may be enough to scare off any further attacks.

Your actually one of the few if the policy has paid for itself. Think about it, they wouldn't sell them if they didn't make money on the deal. As far as not showing much sympathy, I'll plead guilty to that. However there are some pretty strong mitigating circumstances. Imagine doing business where the warranty company treats you as if you don't have any right to operate in a profitable manner. They want to set a labor rate that is below average, and then often times attempt to cut out parts profits, which are necessary for the survival, and reinvestment in the shops future. There are times when even once all of the nonsense is dealt with, the car is repaired (correctly) and then picked up by the customer who only pays the deductible, the shop ends up waiting for the final payment which in some cases never comes! These problems force us to have to take the position of the customer pay us the same as any other customer would, and then they wait for what ever reimbursement the warranty company wants to pay back. Its turned into a serious PITA on occasion, and can be a complete distraction from the principal operation of repairing the car completely, and correctly the first time. As you said in your case the policy actually already paid for itself. But this time you got caught in one of their "Hot Potato" games. You have my sympathy, but its not to be shared with THEM.

If a cantelope has a lot of white next to the rind...it's not ripe. I have a little bit left of the most wonderful melon....orange right to the tough rind. I can't find any flavor to water melon rind....unless you make watermelon pickles....and then it absorbs that wonderful sweet/sour spicy flavor!...I must make some this summer! It hurts me to toss watermelon rind, but if the melon is good and ripe, there's not much left on the skin....and I rarely have anything left of a musk melon or a honey dew but the skin.

Thanks for the input. I have a very crude layout. For example, The interior walls are not drawn exactly to scale :) The yellow blob would be the location of the new addition. The blue item near it is a greenhouse and will probably disappear. The pink stuff in the kitchen represent cabinets--there is a peninsula on the peninsula jutting into the LR/FR/DR and both peninsulas are where walls originally were. This represents approximately the kitchen, livingroomfamilyroomdiningroom (PO took out walls, darn them--they're going back), and entry hall. Yeah, it's inverted in relation to the lovely above sketch: I would want to keep the pocket door from foyer to kitchen-turned-laundry room. The fireplace against the kitchen has been put on notice--it's not staying. Walls between kitchen and living room would be replaced. I think that I could go either way on subdividing the ex-kitchen. Have the office (okay, playroom) separated from the galley laundry area to make it a bit more respectable, or just have it open. Bifold doors maybe? I know I could fit a pretty nice laundry plus storage area into the galley and it would be very convenient. But would the office area be too small to bother with? And laundry by the front door? (I have a new drawing program to learn. I don't know if it can compete with MS Paint, though!)

Yes, if not dry, corky or cotton, I do this with large zukes. I wash them well. I grate from the outside in to about .75" or 1" because I want a the vitamins and photochemical nutrients, along w a bit of pulp. Set aside. Slice the rest of the very large zucchini longitudinally in half. I leave those parts seed side up for the birds in my compost area. I have a "jelly" bag (easy to stitch one up) into which I put the grated dark green skin and exterior pulp. I squeeze out the juice (you can drink or save for soup, I suppose). Then I use a simple easy recipe for zucchini bread (IIRC Redbook paperback cookbook), but I change some of the ingredients around. Since I express liquid from the grated zucchini, I can and more of it. I use some of the AP flour, but add some fresh (keep in fridge) bran flakes. I add raisins and chopped walnuts. Maybe I put a bit more leavening in as well. This gives me a more nutritious zucchini bread (than the go hum recipe) and I the tiny flecks of green skin look healthful. The loaf has good structure and texture and slices well w a bread knife (thin serrated one). That particular recipe includes a few spices like cinnamon and ?allspice or nutmeg (offhand, I can't recall). As for the composting and seeds, you can scrape the seeds out for the birds, then just chop or purée then compost the rest of the squash if you want to avoid attracting critters. We have CCTV monitors in the office that monitor our doors & driveways (all recordable onto cd)so all we have to do is record whichever point we want. Easy to set up & you get get a home use system at Costco.

DH does this for alot of his high profile clients, works great. Camera is about the size of a marble and the average person wouldn't even notice it.

As far as the tires I would file a police report and tell them what happened in court and that you suspect her, at least they will then have to investigate..
