adding outlet-from existing one in mid circuit

I need to add an additional outlet, and the closest existing outlet is not the end of the run. Is it okay to remove the romex from the line side of the outlet, tie in another length of romex going to the new outlet and then use a piggyback at the same splice to reconnect the original outlet. This will create a "Y" connection where one arm goes to the new outlet that's an end of run connection and the other arm connects to the existing outlet and continues on downstream.

Thanks.
