Is a 36in range worth the extra money?
Comments (31)Thanks everyone for the posts. It seems there is a definite mixed opinion. I keep looking at range options and I feel like I'm all over the place. I have room for a 30 or 36" but not anything larger. I don't have room for wall ovens. I love the idea of the 36" cook top. I'm concerned that a 36" range oven would take forever to heat up from quick dishes. I really want to ditch my toaster oven but that definitely doesn't seem possibly with a 36 range. I like the BlueStar range but I don't think I need the huge 36" oven. So, enter the AGA Legacy which has the 36" top I like and multiple ovens. I was thinking the smaller of the 2 ovens would function great as a sub in for the toaster oven. The larger of the 2 ovens worries me a bit. Is it too small? I don't need to cook a turkey in my oven, but I do cook pizzas and roast potato wedges quite a bit. I am cooking for a family of 3....See MoreLarge kitchen work sinks - are they worth the investment?
Comments (2)Very happy with my Julien 30" W x 18" D x 10" H single bowl with 18" x 18" integrated drainboard. I have a cutting board and colander, but rarely use them. I also have a Julien 18 x 18 x 10 sink on the island. I use the cutting board on the smaller sink when we have parties. You have to chase food debris on every single sink I have ever used, so I don't understand how only these larger sinks get that complaint! Having pull-out faucets makes rinsing down the sinks much easier, compared to the separate plastic sprayers we used to have in the old days. I never need to remove the bottom grate to rinse the sink. Maybe those people dump lots of nasty stuff into their sinks that should go in the garbage? Not draining well? That is a function of your plumbing, water pressure and drain/pipe sizes! Definitely get a garbage disposal....See MoreFall recipes worth sharing
Comments (6)Oh yum! Love that but It's so hard to keep the beets from leeching color. ASk me how I know this. Also, do you parboil some items, since I also find they can cook differently. I made these recently, having seen so many verision of roasted carrots on menus the last few years. Talk about a profitable dish! Anyway, I do this with seasoned labneh and toasted pistachios. https://youtube.com/shorts/U3remoPzsCs?si=TIkzpEZhINgsRxAv...See MoreSmith Brothers of Berne—worth reupholstering?
Comments (4)I am going strictly money wise here, so, no, I wouldn't take the chair with you. New cost of Smith Bros armchair is about $1,000,00. Depending on the amount of fabric , the cost per yard and the labor cost, it could run up to as much as $1500.00. Buy a new chair for $1,000.00 and you have $500.00 left in your wallet....See More- 11 years ago
