Sir Grout... worth it?
Comments (10)FYI We read the 5 star reviews and were super excited for their help. These reviews are misleading. The team simply walked out on the job with no proper explanation other than not feeling it. TLDR: this is a low integrity team. I flew across the country to support my dad as he was receiving medical attention. It took a lot of time and energy to be present for their help. Here’s what happened. Chris and his colleague showed up late. Three minutes into our conversation, Chris asks about payment. It was disconcerting as the job had yet to start and the payment was already arranged. Nevertheless, Chris and his colleague start setting up and we start gently asking questions about their process. It was our first time experiencing their work and we wanted to learn more. In the middle of setting up, Chris went outside. When he came back inside, he shared that he spoke to his boss and that they will leave the job. They didn’t think we were a fit. I was shocked and expressed frustration. He had already came by in the past and approved the job. I had traveled across the country to be there. I asked for an explanation as to why. I was blown away: he had no explanation to share other than repeating himself. At one point, as I tried to understand why, he expressed something along the lines of not feeling it. I asked to speak to his boss and he refused to share his/her name or his/her contact information. As I expressed my frustration, he started to ignore me, packing his tools, chiding me for being frustrated for him leaving the job. This is backed up by video footage, including an apology—right before leaving—from Chris for wasting my time. It seems that our basic questions triggered a fear for them of losing payment. Thus, they decided to abandon ship instead of showcasing integrity for respecting their commitment. Afterwards, I called their office, sharing the story with a manager named Jenn. She said they’d call right back. It’s now more than 24 hours. No call back. I’m sorry to say, this is a low-integrity team. If you’re willing to take that risk, buyer beware. They may respond to this review, trying to mischaracterize our frustration as a turn-off to them. I want to be clear: we were kind and courteous in welcoming them to our home. We simply needed help and were willing to pay. We lost time, energy, and money to accommodate them being there. They came and left with little compassion for us. This is the last group of contractors you want in your home....See MoreIs Bertazzoni worth it??
Comments (7)"Comments and links to threads about the range are similarly unhelpful." @Hillside House - a thread with hundreds of negative comments benefits the OP even if she is getting a cooktop, not a range or oven. That is because it shows multiple years' long pattern of poor customer service and non-responsiveness from Bertazzoni. You have not had any problems with your cooktop, that is great news. But what about when you do? This forum is filled with comments from people who have not had any resolution from Bertazzoni on appliances they have spent so many thousands on....See MoreIs this worth following up on Gutter / Fascia / rain-snow drips?
Comments (8)I 100% agree with 3onthetreee ( although I prefer fouronthefloor (: ) and will expand for benefit of diyers. When and if gutters are not overlapped by drip edge , the solution is simple and inexpensive. Insert flat flashing behind drip edge and overlapping rear of gutter. Not an easy thing to find and when you do or if you make your own it generally curls and waves so bad it's difficult to install and/or less effective than desired. Pay an hvac duct fab shop to make flashing. 1 or 2 small vee grooves keep flashing straight and ridged....See MoreOnline Interior Design Courses – Worth It or Not?
Comments (2)Don't waste your money. It would be better to intern for a reputable firm for a low wage than try and learn interior design online. https://www.asid.org/ The ASID can provide valuable info and lists of schools that qualify. If you live in a state that requires a license, then only a certified institution will count towards getting a license. However, not every state requires a license....See More- 11 years ago
