lizb, A very similar thing happened to us. When the tile setter opened up the boxes, (with crew, ready to get going) the floor tile was very, very different from the mock-up sample in the tile showroom. I was so disappointed, and almost wanted to say, "use it anyway" because I didn't want to hold up the project. I decided to choose something else, as whatever was in stock was probably also going to be different from the samples. I found a different, but similar-looking floor tile (a Carrera basketweave) and they called around and found stock in the next state over. It held the project up by two days but I AM SO GLAD I DID NOT USE THAT ORIGINAL UGLY TILE. It was peach-colored and would have clashed horribly with our green cabinetry. The salesperson happily exchanged it, and even said, "Our mock-up sample is almost three years old, so it is probably from a completely different quarry. This happens all the time--I personally never sell that particular tile to anyone because of this problem." Only install a tile you love! Check the stock against the samples. The store shouldn't have any problem exchanging it for you.

We used quite a bit of the grecian marble (incorrectly spelled greecian on the Home Depot website if you are searching for it). We used 12x12s that we cut into 6x12 bricks, 3x6 that we used in one bath as a herringbone pattern and one bath installed in a subway pattern, 6x6, chair rail and the 1x1 hex on the floor. In one shower we installed the Homedepot river rock/pebble mesh mosaic on the floor. We installed the tile in Feb/March so its been up for almost a year and it looks great. There is, however, a great variation in color. It is not a pure white. Some tiles are almost all gray and some have quite a bit of brown in them. Our installer was fantastic at pulling the out and arranging them so that the colors are scattered. We like the color disparity and movement but that's personal preference. Just don't expect a pure white. We did find several boxes that contained noticably thinner tiles (mostly with the 3x6 tiles). We simply packed these back up (save the little boxes it comes in)and returned them to Home Depot. This is a stocked item at our HD so it was easy to get if we needed more and easy to return. The hex mosaic tile was an online only item and we had a HUGE problem getting it delivered. It was through a freight company and they kept promising it and it wouldn't arrive. This could be just an issue in our area (Cincinnati) but it held us up for about a week. (It arrived two weeks later than promised). If I can figure out how I will post pictures as I think the bathrooms turned out great! No extra maintenance. Just sealed it. We were cautioned by the installer about rust which is impossible to remove from marble (often things like shaving cream cans are still metal and can rust). I'm sure newhomeowner is finished with the project but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents for anyone considering the grecian marble.

I'd vote for the basketweave (and not just because I used the floral on the wall in my kitchen). Mosaics generally aren't slippery - the grout lines make them grippier than a lot of large(r) format tiles. I have these crappy white 6x6's in every bathroom in this house (ugh) and you could like to kill yourself on those with wet feet. The issue with the floral is that onyx can be fragile. I got a pretty decent lot, but I also hand inspected every single sheet, removed the "uglies" and used two sheets to replace the rejected pieces. The marble also has some very distinct gray (which does not appear in your limestone) but does appear in my Corian, so I'm not bothered by it. And yes, I did use bright white grout and no, I would never use traditional white sanded grout on a bathroom floor. At a tile shop you'd likely have more choices in the white/cream family. I just think that overall the basketweave is a stronger choice for your space. If you got a very grey lot of the floral you'd be even more behind on tile - and stuck with it to boot. Lisa
