gallery wall-photos on ledge/shelf or wall?
Comments (0)Does anyone have a pic of a gallery wall done with photos stacked on a plate rail/shelf? I want to do a gallery wall, but I want it to be able to hold a lot of photos which I hope to change out and update since my new hobby is photography. I had considered mounting the frames directly on the wall, but I am picky about them being even and straight and I'm afraid I won't like it, or I'll get frustrated and not do it. Also, with a 9ft wall how much of it can I cover without going too high or too low. Do you think I could get 3 shelves and maybe space them 18or 24 inches apart? Any suggestions?...See MoreStep 4: a small gallery wall
Comments (17)To me the fact that they are all by the same artist groups them together to me. I have no idea why, but I really like this artist's work! I did think about putting some kind of kids posters or more causal thing over the kids toys. But they have a play room and this will someday be holding something else. I also already have a wall in their playroom that rotates their artwork... So it is done. I got DH to hang them. He says it is very annoying using the clips and you have to really futz with them (and they are still not perfectly straight and he used a level!) . I think I would like to paint the clips. It will be on the someday list :) I can't believe I got them Thursday and they are hung already. Might be a record for us. :)...See MoreThose of you that have gallery halls/walls of family photos
Comments (25)Your line about "who makes the cut" has really struck a nerve with me. Let me explain. I have the strong opinion that you can do whatever you want with the photos (ie. "who makes the cut"). What you see and how you feel from the displays is all you. A display with a topic theme, color theme, or whatever theme is going to be fabulous as long as you go with your heart and your gut. I had a terrible MIL (EX now!) who actually took the time to inventory WHO was displayed in photos, HOW they were displayed, and concocted her own storylines on why I elected to leave out certain people, include others, and have some more prominent than others. She had the gall to have "sit-down talks" with me several times about my choices in displayed photos. She started sending photos with little post-it notes on where they would "look nice" & which one's I should change out. It gnawed at her to no end that I changed nothing despite her passive-aggressive instructions. I hope your family and/or friends are not the likes of the old hag I used to deal with. You should never, EVER have to explain the reasonings (themes, etc) of photos and why you display what you do. Don't want to bring a downer to this & hope I'm not making you think harder into it. This just brought back some bad memories and it's really too bad it had to go that way. End of therapeutic vent. Gayle...See MoreGallery wall vs one large frame??
Comments (7)If you are trying to go minimal and hate seeing clutter, I think a gallery wall is definitely not for you. Do you want color, or do you want to stick to black and white? With what information you gave, I was thinking something in abstract black and white photography. But if you provide pictures and some more info about your tastes and preferences, we can make better recommendations....See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
