Needing some curb appeal
Comments (11)Benjamin Moore Copley Gray and Elephant Tusk trim. I'd paint the entry walls and the front door the Elephant Tusk to brighten it up in there. Because the garage is so prominent, I'd consider darkening the Copley Grey two shades or so for the entire garage including the garage door. Use Copley Grey for the house portion. Nice fat window trim like Denita's photos and no shutters, your windows are not suited to shutters. Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but my brain wants to see the lower window centred to the upper window on the right side. If it's not centred, consider a new first floor window....See MoreSuggestions for with paint colors? She needs some curb appeal.
Comments (7)Cleaning it up by power washing the porch and any other areas that need and can withstand it would be a good start. Could add some contrast by using two different colors for the trim and columns. I think removing the iron in favor of a stair railing more in line with the porch railing and columns would work wonders as well. If it's in the budget getting a new rich wood door would be very pretty as well....See MoreNew brown brick colonial home needs curb appeal boost!
Comments (11)Beautiful home. Budget and building codes permitting, consider first changing what you can for actual wood with wood finish: first your front door; then shutters; and then your garage door. Wood with natural finish (rather than paint) can go a long way toward transforming the look of a home. IF you are going to repaint what is painted ... and this is a matter of personal opinion, of course -- putting off whites with white can make the off whites seem dingy by comparison. If you don't want true white (trim and fascia and shutters porches, etc.), you could choose a truly dark brown or, at the very least, if you choose an "off white" by any name, use the same off white color for all those painted parts of your home. Exception: Black shutters could also work with a brick home with a brown roof and white elsewhere. Just a note: If you're considering changing the landscaping, that usually has the potential to make a lot of difference toward curb appeal. One issue to consider is how much maintenance are you willing to do (or have done) and how much maintenance would any changes contemplated require....See MoreLate 60's Garrison Colonial Curb Appeal
Comments (16)The most major consideration in the street appeal department is fixing the retaining wall. It looks cheap because it doesn't have "returns," and extremely "busy." It should be extended farther forward (because the slope continues) and limited to maybe 3 levels, as opposed to the sawtooth and innumerable levels. The taller shrubs along the steps look obstructive and messy (as no rhyme or reason for their arrangement), The bald mulch is not a good flavor, and having the turf lawn extend into the sloped area seems like unpleasant maintenance and a shortcoming in the bed geometry. I'd opt for a lot of groundcover instead. The low hanging tree limbs need to be removed. Whether the Jap. maple can be cleaned up and retained ... we would need to see a picture of its trunk relative to the house wall. I'm not trying to show the capabilities of planting in the picture, but just the walls and logical bed line....See MoreRelated Professionals
