CD of first dance?

Anyone have an idea of a CD love song for a first dance. It must be slow so they can dance to it according to DD. Her fiance likes the tempo of "At Last," but she feels it is too sad. Any suggestions for a slow dance CD that is more sunny and positive about love?

One of my favorite current (or semi-current) love songs is Van Morrison's "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You." (Don't even bother with Rod Stewart's - Van wrote it, and his version is *far* better.)

For couples who were first friends and then became romantically involved, I like "I Could Write a Book," both the Frank Sinatra and the Harry Connick Jr. versions. (I've posted a link to the lyrics, in case you haven't heard the song.)

"What a Wonderful World" is maybe over-used, but still a terrific song. Or how about "It Had to be You."

"At Last" is a very popular wedding song. I am surprised that DD finds the lyrics to be sad. Any song by Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, or some of the other great standards make excellent first dance songs.

LOL! Yes, Linda the containers are outside :D Most of snow is melted and or melting away except some of the big drifts left over from the 3 snow storms back to back and the result of plowers! Our temperatures have been in the 40's by day and 30's at night. It rained all last night thru this very early morning. By Friday we will probably hit 50! I've had windows open almost every afternoon now for a good week :D The daffodils have been pushing up for a bout 2 weeks, but no sign of crocus yet. Clumps of Snapdragon 'Black Prince' and still looking good at the base and the Blue Flax, grasses and Bergenia are a pretty contrast to the drab surrounding! I have also found a gazillion or so self-sown Viola, Nigella, Larkspur and Lunaria. Your Dance with Me looks a lot better than mine. My DH ran mine over with the lawn mower when it was first coming out of the ground. So it looks all shreaded. Lesson learned. I now have a rock barrier in front of that hosta bed!!

I got a cassette player just prior to heading off to college, from my parents. My parents didn't even own a stereo - they simply weren't much interested in music at all. But I think they wanted me to fit in. So they told my grandmother that I'd be getting one, and so please give our daughter some cassettes because she might like that... Apparently, my grandmother went to the music shop and bought me 3 cassettes based on what the guy helping her out figured might be nice for a grand daughter of my age... and amazingly, all THREE selections are ones I loved, and still love. (They eventually got replaced with CD's way down the road...) Cat Stevens, Tea for the Tillerman Carole King, Tapestry Gordon Lightfoot - not sure which album but one of his late 60's one. I am quite certain that Grandmother said, yeah, she loves cats, let's get the Cat Stevens one, and there's a cat on the cover of Tapestry, so yes, let's get that! Not sure how Gordon Lightfoot ended up in there, too, but hey, I ended up loving ALL THREE albums!

does she like country music? i was going to use allison krauss's 'when you say nothing at all' but we decided to go with a song that means a little more to the both of us. so it's back to the drawing board. allison krauss isn't the original artist but i like her version better than the other guy...
