I would not paint it. But I would add some thinks in white to go with your trim and brighten things up a bit.

I would not paint it. If the bar is not completely built in I would consider removing that.

I can't tell from the photo but if that is good quality paneling original to the house I would leave it alone and let the buyer decide what to do with it. When you show the house maybe put white wicker furniture in the solarium room with some bright colors for accents.

If that is cheapy paneling from the '70s, can you remove it without doing damage to the walls? Be careful with this one though......Sometimes paneling was put up to cover water damage or to cover wallpaper.

Ask you real estate agent about removing the dry bar. In some neighborhoods a rec room with a dry bar is a plus. Personally I would remove it. Or let buyers know you are willing to take it with you or leave it for them so they don't assume they are stuck with it and the task of hauling it out if they don't want it.

Could you put a colorful rug on the floor? I think the problem is not the panelling but that there is little contrast between the walls and the floor.

I would play up the retro feel of the room with the knotty pine and the parquet floor tiles with maybe some whites or bright colors like turquoise or yellow in rugs or accent pillows. Maybe take down the hanging baskets or put some lush plants in them.

That looks like real knotty pine, so I would leave it. If the next owner wants to do something, they can.

I'd paint it in a heartbeat...

I would leave it, but I like knotty pine. If it's fake then yes, sure, paint it.

Polly's room is great, but she's living in her home-Sotaguchimuch is trying to sell hers. If it's real knotty pine, I'd leave such a permanent decision to the new owners.

I like the idea of leaving the paneling and decorating the room with a couple of white wicker chairs with a little table in between. A colorful rug, maybe round, on the floor. Remove the sofa and hanging plants and add some lush ones like 'gsciencechick' said. Can't tell if you can remove that bar but if it is easy to take out, I would!

Please do not paint it! Look at the room in the link below that Phoebe Howard just did - I wanted to rip out all my drywall and install paneling after I saw this wonderful warm room!

We painted a knotty pine room, and it was a zillion times better...BUT that was our choice for living there...and doing it correctly is a painstaking procedure, and I agree that light pretty furniture and a nice rug, even an inexpensive indoor-outdoor one, would be a better use of your resources.
Home Decorator's Collection has some very pretty inexpensive ones, and you can find outdoor furniture in consignment shops or flea markets that would furnish the space without a major investment.

In your photo, the paneling looks to be in fine shape...just make sure it is squeaky clean before you show the house.
