This could be a good place to use a bullnose tile right up to the reveal of the window and run the tile all the way to the ceiling or crown.

About the only choice I see for you at this point would be to wrap the entire area-- top, bottom, and sides, with wood window trim. I know it's going to leave you a small space on the bottom for the stone, but because of the fact that the granite sill wasn't "dog-eared", meaning it didn't have pieces sticking out to the two sides to end where the side moldings would stop, I don't see any other alternative. If you try and just stop the trim at the two ends of the granite, it'll look unfinished, like someone forgot something. If you try covering the edge with the marble, then what happens up above? UNLESS you run the marble up and all the way around the window. That would be your only other alternative.

I'm having a similar issue but at least you have space to work with. I have a tiny sliver of space and I don't know where to stop the wood framing and where to start the subway tile. Should the wood on my window frame go all the way down to the counter or should only to the bottom of the cabinets?

I think yours could still be framed and then a little tile underneath. I hope more people post pictures. Your tile might look good all the way around and up.

krissd-- unfortunately she can't do the same thing. Se where your window trim comes down and meets the granite? That's what I meant up above when I said something about "dogears" on the granite-- little pieces that stick out past the opening, for the window trim to die into. She doesn't have them.

jan jan-- I would go ahead and take the wood to the counter. maybe do something like a full bullnose edge (semicircle edge)with a lip that would extend all the way to the finished counter surface. I mean, I'm assuming that's cement board you're showing in that picture, and then you still have the tile to go after that.(not to mention that if that's going to be granite tiles on that countertop, one layer of 3/4" plywood is not enough plywood before the cement board goes down)

Sorry Bill for the confusion. My plywood is already in place and that gray is the underside of my granite sample. It has a bullnosed edge so I can't lay it flat on the counter it over hangs the ege of the counter. The only way to get an idea of how thick it is is to turn it upside down.
We are thinking...take the wood window frame to the bottom of the window not the counter and then white subway tile in the window with full bullnose edge to the granite like you said. What do you think?

I would get another piece of granite; the size would be as tall as to the sill, and as wide as between the wall cabinets. It would fill the gap between the counter top and the sill. Then, wood trim around the window butting down to the new granite piece (apron). Then, the tile would end at the apron and wood trim.
