Thanks, Sandra, Murphy and Robbie! Murphy, To post a picture here, you need to first upload your pictures from your computer to a free hosting site. I happen to use Photobucket. You can then copy the HTML code under the Photobucket picture, then paste it in your message. It will then show in your preview, then you can click submit. One other suggestion: You might want to resize your photo to under 100 kb for easy loading, especially for anyone who uses dialup. I use Irfanview (free) for resizing, but I think you can also resize in Photobucket. I'd LOVE to see your bags! Julie

In #1 you really need to consider headering, support for the header, milling the studs to conform to lath deformation caused by tile masonry base coat. 2) "I have a situation" To quote Dave Hester YUUUP "Both doors would need to slide to the same side and could either be enclosed in a pocket or left visible." If you are building a pocket in the room, why do you need two doors? If the pocket is in another room or outside the building envelope, how is it going to be encased or wether protected?

Hi! Sorry I didn't get back to this site--I'm not very good taking pictures, but I went again to the interiordoors.com site and there is a photo in their gallery of a multi-fold door that looks almost exactly like mine, except mine is finished in a darker stain. These are exceptionally heavy, beautiful doors and you can choose, as you probably saw, from about six different wood species. They come with Johnson hardware in the "kit" they send. Anyway, I did a lot of my reno via the internet because it was simpler for me than running around looking for things in big box stores that didn't have what I needed most of the time. You will talk to real people who know their product intimately and the service was wonderful. By the way, my multifold doors, which are much wider in total than a pocket door--a total of 72 inches--do not swing. They move into position with just a touch of a finger. On the other hand, I don't have children at home running full tilt into them, either--that I can't tell you about! Veda

Thanks for the comments - The situation gets stickier - I talked to the PM, and he said he already BOUGHT the "homemade" pocket door frames he described. He hadn't mentioned that. I'm really irritated now. This after multiple emails to him going back over the fall where I asked him to hold of purchasing a frame unit yet, and even as recently as January 9, we talked about what features were paramount. So now, not only am I uncertain why "his" frame is any better than well-regarded frames, I'm feeling pushed into taking something I know nothing about. I said to him, ok, if you put them in and the doors don't work well for daily/frequent use, are you prepared to do them over? DH says I'm being too nasty and not trusting - he's a "professional". I just get the sense he's trying to get away as cheaply as possible. Maybe I'm not trusting, but this is the second thing he's bought before we confirmed. The Architect plan had two window sizes shown as possible, based on our preferences. I had told him that was a place holder, and then when we met to review that wall (above the tub), he said he had ordered it months ago. And of course, he bought the smaller, thus cheaper one. So the real frustration is that I know of no way to kick the tires on a pocket door. Do I trust the guy as a "pro", or bunches of online reviews from contractors & homeowners? Would asking him to give me references for that door unit be fair? Thanks.... we've had a bunch of delays between a major architect screwup and some walls not built as the plans showed in 1979, and so I know he's trying to catch back up on the schedule a bit (was due for completion before Xmas). Such fun!
