sealing glass

okay i found out the hard way that the clear glaze from krylon dont work....Dont buy it not worth losing your art....so does anyone know how i can seal my glass paintings...

Gosh, I hope someone has an answer for you. I have only painted glass jars, but I always spray with Krylon matte 1311, then after that dries, I might spray on a gloss one if I want more shine. What did the clear glaze do to your art work--make the colors run? I am so sorry you had a bad experience. Good luck.

hi
well there are several other "glass" painters on here
and I can only paint furniture and houses and such
I spent a bunch of time a few days ago "googling" and yahooing and surfing and reading about specifically glass painting and found a lot of imfo.
the reason I say this is I think it was this place that had a "sealer" just like you want .
have any of you used this product (s) it seemed like good paint .
have you etched glass? it seems the combo of what you all do and the etching cream would be good.
I have everything to ,including a lot of glass to do it but have never done it .
do you spend any time on the stained glass forum? seems those folks would have a lot knowledge.
I wished I was part of that bed idea I have a plan in my head with the window at the front kinda like a four poster bed /trellis combo with the arbor ,balcony, trellis, kinda meditereanean look that would be awesome boo hoo and probably all the junk to do it . keep on asking Rick

The windows are Pozzi and still in good condition (other than the seals!). I am guessing that the door is Peachtree because that is what the other doors in the house were. Because the door sizes have changed, the price to replace all the glass is way under what a new custom sized door would be. We have replaced all the other doors in the house and had to have custom doors made. We replaced 2 of them because of issues with replacing locks and handles. The other doors were replaced because they were sliders/french doors that were just not holding up well. This door is seldom used in a walk out basement and still works fine.

Your list is referring to mostly setting materials, not grout. The one reference to Ardex grout states it as a ”recommended” not “required”. Which leaves the door open to “functional equivalents” if the contract did not specify. Did your front end specifications that you gave to the tile candidates reference using “ setting and finishing to TCNA standards with manufacturer recommended products“? Im not familiar with RXFL and could find no info on it. Are you certain of the brand? It could it have been Flexcolor or FA grout?

You need a door unit. If the doors are rotted I will guarantee there is rot in the jambs even if you don’t see it. Additionally doors aren’t designed to swap out like that- an aluminum clad 36” door will be a different size and have completely different hinges than the wood doors you have currently. You likely could get new wood door slabs and get them planed to fit but that would be a waste of $ in my opinion.

+1. Is this going to affect performance, no, but that also doesn't pass industry standards. There shouldn't be any obstruction in the viewable glass area. Whether or not you want to press the issue depends on how much it bothers you.
