If it's like the skins I've had in the past, they're pretty beefy and won't be curling. Sort of like paneling but not quite that thick. I think you're safe if the installer knows what she's doing.

If it's a 3/16" plywood material like a typical skin, it's very flat and doesn't have a lot of "fight" in it.

I am in the same boat! Our cabinets were supposed to have flush ends, but the KD left them off the order. We didn't even notice the flush ends were missing when we unpacked the boxes and installed the cabinets. I've made such a big deal about it because everyone says they can't tell the difference. But the kitchen looks so unfinished to me. SO says I didn't notice it before when we unpacked and installed, so why should it be a big deal now. I've argued and argued and now we have the skins and are attempting to install them, but we're a bit flummoxed by the process. We had to cut most of them to fit... we're going to use liquid nails and clamp them to hold. Does anyone know if they should be screwed from the inside? I've seen a few sites that say to screw them in from the inside, but how do you keep the screw tip from peeking through to the outside?

Just use a brad nailer and then some of the fill stick that comes with your touch up kit. No liquid nails. If you want to use glue )most don't) use contact cement.

If you have the normal skin that is not very thick, you can't screw them from the inside. There is not enough in the first 1/4" or so of a screw's length to hold something like this, and you always risk going through the face. I wouldn't use Liquid Nails because it has a thickness to it which could cause gapping and it may not hold that well in this situation. If it were me, I'd spread a uniform coat of wood glue on both the cabinet surface and the back of the skin with a brush or a sheetrocking knife, and then use a brad nailer (i.e., compressor powered) to nail it around the perimeter; then fill the small nail holes with a matching putty stick.

Alternatively, since you don't sound very experienced with stuff like this, you could get a handyman to do this. It would be a shame to do this poorly and have it detract from the appearance of the cabinet installation.

This happened to me with the cabinet on one side of the microwave. When the installers came back to finish the odds and ends, they glued the skin to the cabinet. It looked great and you couldn't tell that it was retrofitted.

Thanks everyone. We actually got stuck doing the installation after a family friend told us he would do the install... but things went south quickly, and we were left with the cabinets on the wall, no doors, no hardware, etc. So, realizing the KD had accidentally left the flush ends off the order was the cherry on top. The cabinets have been hanging on the wall in the exact same state for over 3 months, so I greatly appreciate all of the advice.

We started with liquid nails and that was a bust; I came back to the thread and read about the gapping, which was exactly the problem we were having. I ran to the store for some contact cement and voila! Two of them now have flush ends and the third of five is drying. I may have a kitchen soon.
