Hi, Here is my Merrit's Supreme, bought a small plant late last year and the flowers were going into their fall color and were quite purple. This year it's decided it wants to be very pink, will have to see what color it changes to this fall, anyway it wants to look, it's beautiful! I think it may be a bit tender so we put it under a deck on the South Side of the house and it did beautifully, though only had 2 flowers. But in your zone, you should be fine if you can find it. Another possibility is Purple Majesty, we bought last year at a local nursery. Yes, I do buy some plants, and this one was a pretty purple last year and it's purple this year!! Nice dark green leaves on both of these varieties!! Venice: From HYDRANGEAS and while were on purples, last year we found this gorgeous purple in a cemetery on Cape Cod and this year the cuttings are blooming and it's a shocking pink! The PH of the soil can change just about any of these!! Cemetery Purple/Pink: From HYDRANGEAS and just one more purple, we found at a gas station, but these cutting got killed in a late spring frost, so I don't have this one (yet)! Who made all the repairs you listed? The installing dealer? And if the installing dealer, are they an authorized York dealer? And if an authorized dealer, what is their response to your specific complaints? What documentation do you have on your problems? Be specific please.. You have a nice anecdotal story but do you have backup to support? In a situation like yours, I would put my complaint in writing to York by certified letter with copy to dealer. If no response, perhaps a lawyer with consumer protection experience is indicated. Sorry for your trouble. IMO

Tigerdunes, So you are saying you're familiar with the climate here--and you would be comfortable leaving out the LP? I have wondered about this myself, since the house we just sold (subdivision, mass-built) was heatpump only, with LP ventless logs in the LR. Our utility bills were very low. But now that we're building, everyone we ask is saying they wouldn't do it any way other than HP w/ furnace backup. I don't understand why, since our bills have always been low with elec. HP-only. I forgot to clarify--there is no Nat. Gas. It would be LP from our own tank. We are planning to have 1 set of vented LP logs in the LR. We actually used them quite often in the last house to supplement the heat, and take the chill off. They made a big difference in heating the house, but that one was 2-story and I think the heat was able to rise. Not sure if they'd have the same effect in a ranch. I will research the systems you mentioned, as well as some of the terms you used! It's like reading Chinese!! haha I will also use the fuel calculator-will take some research to find the numbers but it looks helpful. Thanks! Ryan, you are right about needing more quotes.
