I myself looked for ages for the half bowls fr walls and could not find anyone to fit my indoor need. So I ended up making myself three just similar to wolly pockets...I used felter from jo ann stores, and a protective liner of plastic just in the side that goes against the wall and the bottom to protect from when you water. it has been 7 months and my variety of plants have been thriving and looking great on them. The secret is that because the felter, there is so much aeration that the soil dryes pretty fast. So you need once and a while take them from the wall to inside your sink and water throughly, let drain and hang them again. I do that once a month and it is more than enough, out of that I water kinda of half cup of water once a week for each pocket. I am sure your son will love because it makes a modern green wall looking which is not feminine, but very unisex type of decor.

welllll :) if most are chipped anyway, I'd use them in mosaics.I use curved pieces sometimes. I did make some nice bird feeders from an old chandelier and glued cups and saucers where the lights used to be. I cut the wiring out,painted the chandelier white. You could melt wax and add a wick to a cup,and make a candle,and add potpourri around the saucer.These would be great gifts. If you just like to look at them, how about some plate hangers and put them on the wall? You could actually mosaic the plates, and epoxy a candle stick to make it a cake plate.Or you don't even have to mosaic them to do that.Mosaic the plate,and hang on the wall. Or you could use the plates as garden junk,and line a flower bed with them. Or hang them on your fence. Or sell them and buy something else :) Merry Christmas!

Sara - thank you so much - that is what I was hoping for - LOCAL advice based on observation. I grow antique roses, and I have learned over time that the best advice is always from someone who gardens in the same area I do. Mine is on my deep front porch (think Queen Anne Victorian house with a large front porch) right now, and seems to like it. It gets exactly the amount of sun you mentioned. I could certainly leave it there. My one concern is that it is still in a one gallon pot - how big a pot is yours in? These plants seem to get very large. Maybe I could lift the tuber when it is dormant and put it in a larger pot? hc mcdole - Yes, I did think of a bird planting it, which is of course possible. However, I have been astonished in my garden to see that, if the soil is disturbed, old old dormant seeds or whatever have started growing. There is one bed which I dug and replanted about 25 years ago. Suddenly up popped a HUGE amount of climbing petunias (I did not know there was such a thing). They climbed up the house, and got 7 ft tall!. My SIL told me that when she had lived in our house 20 years before (it has been in my husband's family since 1905), that also happened in that bed, and she recognized the ones which came up as the same ones. We even managed to find old pictures of them. My FIL was still alive at that time, and he told us that his mother had planted them there in his childhood (he was born in 1913), and he also recognized them as the same plant. My FIL and my SIL were/are both serious gardeners, so I think they were correct. The place where this begonia appeared suddenly had not been touched for the Lord knows how long, but the ancient rose which had been growing there (which luckily I had been able to root cuttings of) died, so the soil did get dug up when we removed the corpse. It was an area which had been part of a formal garden when my DH's grandmother was gardening, and is sort of wild now. Other plants of hers have re-appeared in other places, so I am guessing this might be one of them. Jackie

I love your sconces. And like RL…think that you need to put some fabulous art, or a portrait between the two lights. They are fabulous! Lucky you! I love symmetry, but when confronted with Asymmetry….I always say, embrace it! See it as a wonderful opportunity to do something different. To the first of the table/console beneath the sconces, put a marvelous umbrella stand or beautiful antique ceramic planter and base with a plant, or a coat stand, as RL suggests. USE the area that ISN’T in the vignette that you see when you open the door to add a little something extra and draw the eye beyond, and to the right. It is the quirks that make us all unique. This is a quirk of your home and makes it extra special. Embrace it!
