My latest project

Hello...It's been awhile since I've visited this forum and every time I come back I ask myself why I haven't made time to revisit it more often....you guys AMAZE and INSPIRE me! I have never found a forum yet that has as many talented people as this one.

This is my latest glass on glass window. It's called The Tea Party and it measures 32" x 23". It didn't come out quite as I had envisioned...the dolls are just scary as heck and I have several spots that the grout bled behind the glass, but nothing I can do about it now...glad it's done and ready to move on to something else...lol. This was one of those projects I thought I might never get done....broke the base glass twice and had to start over.

I had commented on flickr-I think its amazing and I dont think the dolls are scary at all, its a wonderful piece. grout bleed happens, thts part of creating things by hand and I dont think it detracts one bit from this piece. You see all the flaws, I think its absolutely wonderful and I wish I could do as well!

Oh my goodness, that is beautiful! And I agree, I didn't find the dolls scary in the least. I was too busy being enamored by the beautiful trees in the background, and the girl in her hat. This is really a gorgeous piece!! I do hope you stay and keep visiting. Though I confess, I do the same thing. Life starts getting in the way of my art and I forget that even though I'm not creating things, all the wonderful artists here still are! LOL

Ken, you must have read Diane Keaton's book. I have it on audio version, she reads the book herself. That's the second time you've mentioned "it ain't pretty" which is why I think you may be familiar with it. (thong was the first).....hehehehehhe Well, I'm glad you said it, because my eyes were bugging out. I thought maybe the hosta chosen were all miniature or smalls. TNC, you have been saved from a terrible heart attack when your hosta explode in the spring two years from now. Ask me how I know. :) So welcome to the forum. Ken is serious about taking a 10 foot string and drawing an arc in that corner. The hosta you have will end up making your dogwood disappear except for the limbs up top. Or almost. Google the names of each hosta and you can identify the posts related to them, read the ones you wish, and learn what happens to each plant in or near your zone. We have a few folks growing hosta in TX, so you should find something helpful about the eventual size of each hosta. Don't read the promo card, but read how big it becomes in your growing zone. What to watch for in your zone. I'm in zone 9a. It is interesting to me that more high zone folks are becoming interested in hosta. That is great! Hosta are on the move, and the direction is south! I always knew the hosta had a game plan for climate change. :)

I am anxiously awaiting tomorrow's arrival of my first embroidery machine. I have had a Kenmore sewing machine for over 30 years and decided it was time I treated myself to an upgrade. I ordered the Brother SE400 and am anxious to get started! I have (great-nephew) twins that I want to make shirts for that I saw recently. One will say COPY and the other one will say PASTE. I thought that was so cute. The blankets are great! I see your original post is from several years ago. I'm sure you are enjoying your grandchildren. My first granddaughter will be 2 in a couple of weeks and I'm sure she'll be the recipient of many embroidered goodies from Nonna.

"Lindsey_CA, that's not a beaten up look. Some call it 'patina'." I think there's a huge difference between "patina" and "beaten up." These two pics which I just grabbed off a Google image search for "distressed furniture" show what I mean. I think they're hideous, but would be beautiful if they were refinished.

Its beautiful. I particularly love how the flowers and vines seem to have movement. I don't think the dolls are scary either.

Absolutely amazing. Talk about talent - oh my!!! CALAM is right - Queen, princess, Ladies in Waiting, ALL of them. I see your signature cuts and love this whole piece. The frame is outstanding - absolutely wonderful for this piece. Wish I had a thimble full of your talent. Don't stay away so long.
