Hey Patti - I just thought of it is all. I don't have a pic of one already made. As suggested, I would (either) print out some family pics you have saved on your computer and/or use some pics you can cut. I would cut them about the size of a large hang tag and then glue them onto some pretty Christmas colored cardstock, punch a hole in the top and tie them onto the wreath with a pretty ribbon. They don't have to be full size pics of a person, just the head and shoulders, etc. If you don't want to cut precious family pics, you could take the pics to a photo store and/or office supply store with a copy machine and make copies of them and also get them downsized or enlarged if needed. I'm glad to hear you like the idea and I think your daughter's would love receiving them. Sal

Hmmm, maybe 2 yrs ago when this thread was started, we did have more gardening shows here in Canada. Right now I'm pretty fed up with HGTV. It seems full of these ridiculous design-a-room-in-20-minutes-shows with $100 and completely unlimited resources of carpenters, upholsterers, eletricians and plumbers along with a designer/host who looks like miss universe. And then the game show/reality TV varieties with people decorating their neighbours homes and getting into drunken fights. AND what about these makeover shows where the family says they like modern white neoclassical and so the producers bring in a designer who makes their living room look like a boudoir in the Taj Mahal, full of orange and pink and big intricate rosewood furniture, then sulk when the homeowner tells them to get rid of it? Oh Lordy. TV is for entertainment only, it seems. Back to my gardening books and mags, then! Pam

Sometimes you can find damaged paneling or sheets usually for bathrooms & get good prices. When you shelve, you hide flaws. Depending upon heating & cooling, fabric may not be a good choice. It may absorb moisture that will in turn mold or mildew depending upon humidity. My sewing is in the basement & it doesn't bother me. I do use a dehumidifer. I have lots of pot lights & use florescent bulbs in the summer to keep it from heating up too much. Sometimes I switch back to reg bulbs in the winter. I have Ott lights at each sewing station too. Floors were hardwood already. Pins get caught in cracks. I got a magnet but some pins can't be picked up. I don't like carpet because of pins & fabric scraps. My last one had vinyl flooring & I liked it. My upper walls were already a light wall paper & the bottom is dark. That has worked ok. I go with the suggestion for using some peg board. Again, ask if they have any damaged pieces at reduced prices. If humidity is not a problem & you go with fabric, I would first seam the panels to eliminate waste as you go along stapleing it up. If you would get piece of plastic water pipe & roll it up on it, you can handle it better & another person can pull it taut as one staples. Good luck & let us know how you decide to finish it up.

A friend of mine made a headboard from an old door. It was looking pretty sad, so she painted it and then did an antique glaze over top. Looked great. How to hang it? Well you could use two 2 X 8 (or 2 X 6 if it's a lighter door). One is attached to the top of the headboard, one along the bottom. You have to screw the bits that go into the wall into the studs, or you will wake up with no headboard. LOL Also, if you just do just the one at the top, the headboard will bow in at the bottom and eventually pull the screws out of the wall. The headboard just hangs on the part that is attached to the wall. I did the diagram for an upholstered headboard someone was trying to hang on the wall on another forum, so just ignore the part about reupholstering. LOL
