The cabinet is a standard height. That is, the sink is undermounted beneath the counter, and the final counter height is standard. The cabinet is about 32" wide. I can't say exactly, because the entire wall of cabinetry was custom made in the vintage style where it is all one long unit. The cabinets are not separate, and the side of the sink cabinet is also the side of the cabinet next to it. The installation was all very stressful for me because the "hole" where the sink would fit had to be pretty darn close to the correct height in order to make the counter the right height. Now, since my cabinets are painted, I did have some wiggle room. We needed to shim the sink to make it exactly the right height and levelness. The gaps all around the sink were covered with bondo (by me), and then painted. So the sink is perfectly snuggled in now. But if I had wood cabinets, my cabinetmaker would NOT have had the skill to do a beautiful job. Pictures, you say? You might be sorry you asked! Get ready for a bunch! I hope they help. Question now tinker_2006 - if you were to do a decorative tile square area under the hood like lcskaisgir did, what size would you do? For us our cooktop is 36" but the hood is 54"... it's induction so it's not really seen from afar so I would think we could do bigger than cooktop but smaller than hood? Decisions decisions!

BlueStar 30" Incline hood over Bluestar Platinum 30" range. Still under construction - plastic on the fridge and the back splash goes in today. The 30" hood has a 1200CFM inline blower mounted in a soffit located in the laundry room which is behind the range wall. That worked our great because now I can use the 2 cabinets about the hood. I plan on having the wood insert removed and glass added to match the others. We were very impressed that even on high speed you could easily have a conversation while standing in front of the range.

Thanks Joseph. I was able to find a stainless piece to cover up the gap. My only concern now is whether I need to attach a piece of wood to the back, so I can mount the hood to the wall. Is mounting it to the bottom of the cabinet enough? My husband seems to think it is fine. But I don’t want it to fall down. We initially want to mount it to both the wall and cabinet, so it has extra support.
