Hi again... I'm confused! The link above from gusolie indicates my purslane wants moist, well drained soil, but another response I got on the Name that Plant forum said it was a succulent and hated a lot of water. Should I infer from the two pieces of info that the plant needs to be well drained and soil kept slightly damp, or well drained and allowed to dry out between waterings? For now, I plan to keep it in the container, but may move it later to the sunnier side of my garden ("sunnier" being a relative term in my yard!). I have two more questions: 1 - Will this plant grow well in my sandy, acidic soil? 2 - Will it over-winter in my mild climate? (Here, winter nighttime temps seldom drop below 20 degrees, and that doesn't happen often.) Thanks for all the help, guys! BTW - let me say now that GW, and particularly this forum, has helped me turn my "sand pit" into a lovely green space. Couldn't have done it without you! ;-))

I live in Gulfport, Ms. Until Katrina I loved it here, now I have a few doubts, I lost my brand new home,we had lived in it 8 days,it was hit by a tornado. We are now back in our home and working very hard at making this house into a home. We have been here 28 years, I say I wasn't born in the South but got here as fast as I could. Ruth, As I said, I will survive if I do not receive a gift basket or anything else for that matter...LOL! Very kind of you to offer me anything off your list.....but you need not do that. Nikki (cinnie..), our September host, wanted to send me something and I told her no..... it really does not take care of the problem. I do feel when someone signs up for a swap, RR closed or not, they should honor their commitment. I also know and understand that things come up, unfortunate circumstances arise and the swap can not be carried out/they need to drop out. In that case, I am 100% cool with someone backing out....but they better communicate that to their partner and the group. This matter of people sending their swap several weeks late....or not at all.....no communication, one way or the other.....disappearing.....and then, as in your case, not receiving what you were supposed to receive is BS. Total BS!! Ruth, I am curious, did you receive any explanation from Wild Hair Mavens as to why you were shorted 3 of the items you were supposed to receive???? The Paneras closest to them (about 2 blocks) doesn't deliver but another close one does. My sister hates to food shop, hates to cook and regularly freezes items after shopping so I think freezing won't be an issue. They love Panera and they do go there for a meal fairly often. I also like Wolfermans and will check the other sites mentioned. My sister still drives (her hubby has had a couple of strokes and open heart surgery) but it is difficult for her hubby to actually go to a restaurant. They often go to the "main campus" of their community and have a meal at one of the restaurants there. They are in a new single family home which is about 1/2 mile from the main campus. Once the weather is bad they probably will opt for meal delivery. Thanks for all the ideas.
