Trash To Treasure

Anyone know what this could be turned into???

What could I do with this?I thought about tossing it.But than I decided to post here before throwing it away to see if anyone here had any idea what I could with this.I have no idea what it was used for.We were asked to haul some things away for the church and this was in the pile.Thanks for any ideas.

Looks like a letter sorter to me. I'd definitely be keeping that, love that prim/country look. Are you able to take out some of the slats and use it for displaying nick-nacks or other treasues?

How big are the slots? It would be great for sheets of glass, plastic canvas, craft books, Turn it the other way and you could put felt,quilt quarters,or lay small bottles of tempra paint, brushes. I am so jealous. LOL

Hey everyone! Thanks for all of your time and effort into finding a name for my little friend. I appreciate all that everyone has done. toadlilly - you are correct! I have a very sweet hubby who also enjoys my love of plants. I don't know how I got so lucky. You should see his office at work. I keep dropping off cuttings and other cool plants. Everyone at work tells him he has a jungle in his office :). And he never complains! I think I have discovered the name of my little friend. It is a Opuntia brasiliensis cactus. Someone in the cactus forum was able to pin it down. Now he has a name. Again, thanks for everything and I appreciate all everyone has done. doggies7

Thanks Joan_m ,as a matter of fact I brought some of the hips home to disect and investigate...just a compulsion I have...lol.Well anyway there is no odor to them what so ever and I do not remember any smell coming from the bush or foliage that I brought home.I didnt notice any of the bristly thorns just nice sized well spaced ones,so maybe your first guess is correct.So when I go back to check on it if it is blooming I know that it isnt either of the 2 you mentioned which helps in the process of elimination.:)And then will get a picture of the bloom!And if there is no bloom to take a picture of then I bet you are right on the Dog Rose,I will be dissappointed though,because I was really looking foward to snagging a cutting and enjoying it's fall display year after year!Thanks so much for your input I really appreciate it!:) ~Angie

Does anyone know how to turn logs into posts for gazebo?

The bark on these is usually removed by a high-pressure water blast. You could peel it off by hand. You don't need to dry the logs - they will crack and shrink no matter what you do to them. Seal them with whatever you use to seal other outdoor wood with. The trick is to keep the end of the logs dry - mount them on a bolt sticking out of the gazebo base, or modify a pole plate to fit into the base of the lof. That prevents base rot.

If you took out some of the slats, you could use it for a bookcase. I would definitely hang on to it though, it looks like good wood to me.

In a more storage-oriented way, it looks about perfect for CDs.

Give it some doors or a front made of an old window and fabric, and it would store CDs without anyone ever knowing.

If you don't have magazines, coloring books, construction paper, etc to put in the slots how about a coffee table. You could get a piece of glass for the top. Some colorful objects could be placed in the the slots or some strands of lights.

Everyone has wonderful ideas as to what to do with it. I'm thinking, since it came out of a church, that it was used to organize the choir members' folders. Each slot probably was numbered, and as each choir member came and left practice, they were able to select and return their folder to the cabinet to keep it neat and tidy. May it so help you! Kass
