ahhh i love to trash pick lol

today my curbside shopping got me a beautiful 2 foot vase...2 gorgeous end tables....4... 5 foot victorian shutters...and a little magazine rack....its funny as soon as i see stuff i already have it painted lol...(I would love to do everything in barnyard red but I cant lol...)i will get some pics...its amazing what some people toss...

I wish people around here would throw stuff away like you're able to find! The stuff I see is broken beyond repair or I just don't have a quick enough imagination. I also don't have a lot of room to put things. We downsized our home considerably when we moved to Florida. No basement, the garage is Hubby's. So, whatever I bring home has to go inside the house somewhere.

I have to get up early lol...there are tons of people who go around this town...I dont get lucky like this all the time...sometimes i find trash so to speak lol...and sigh Im running out of room...i will probably grab some of my things and run to a flea market out in de to sell some of it....(i dont want to lol) but I think im becoming a pack rat!

Very beautiful flowers, Silverkelt. Your garden is colorful and interesting and very cottagey. I love the Double Gold Rudbeckia too. We grew Clarkias in California, but haven't ever tried them here. I'd have to order them, as they are not sold here in any nursery I've been to anyway. I have ONE plant of Irish Eyes this year. One of my dogs dug up all of my seedlings I planted last year but the one. I put a wrought iron skirt around it and is doing fine and blooming this year. I shouldn't have planted them where I did. I knew he dug in there. Going to move her around to the back where I grew them before. She is one of my faves too. Such BIG flowers and the green center cones are so different. (I love greens). I hope my Heritage rose is that lovely when it grows up. I grew it from a cutting that 'plantmaven' sent me two years ago. And what fragrance! You could never post too many pictures as far as I am concerned. I LOVE to see pictures! Maine is such a beautiful part of this country. The forest at the back of your flowers with your path going back that way is very picturesque. Lucky you to have that as your background. I bet you see a lot of wildlife. Thanks for sharing with us. Too much stuff to list. I will stop and pick up something beside the curb and I frequently dive the local thrift shop dumpster. All of my clothes come from there. This weekend I got a lot of stuff...including an nice old avacado green pyrex bowl...the kind with a spout on both ends, extra large. And a concrete bird bath. Only thing wrong with the bird bath, is it is painted light pink, but I can live with that. It is heavy and perfect otherwise. Also, a radio/telephone/alarm clock, still in the box. Mostly I look for garden related stuff. Recently I got 28 house plants at the thrift shop dumpster...all in good condition. I also pick up flower pots, trellises, and anything that I can use as bedding for my possums. I love finding knit caps, which the thrift shop routinely throws away, because no one buys them here. The baby possums love them.

yup the birdhouse is a lamp...(the hard part will be finding a shade to fit it perfect....and yes I painted the flowers on the tables and lamps to cover imperfections....to learn to paint ac moore has pricilla hausers roses...she is really good with deatils...or even look over at the other home forum I think it is painting and decoration...painting fool gave great detail on painting roses and leaves

Walls. Oh, dear deity, walls. I can remember buying my first home--as a single person, I was looking at condos. My guess is that 99.999% of condos just plunk the kitchen in a corner of the living room, adding a counter/eating bar to create "separation." My agent had a hard time understanding that I wanted a kitchen that was a separate room. Open concept may be great for entertaining or if you have kids. But I am home alone a lot more than I entertain and I don't have kids. What I want is walls to contain the noise of the dishwasher and doors to keep cooking odors contained. The idea of having the kitchen in the living room and the smells and grease getting into my nice furniture is not appealing. And there's the dirty dishes issues, as expressed by lavender lass. There are mornings I don't have time to wash my cereal bowl before dashing out to work. There are days when I eat dinner and just want to collapse. So while the dishes get done promptly most days, some days they don't. And I don't want to curl up in the living room to relax and have those dirty dishes staring at me from across the room, reminding me that I'm being lazy.

I love the color Barn Red...and I cannot find it now! I painted our shutters and a door that color several years ago...surprised that even our Home Depot doesn't have it...they tried matching it with a color I chose from their color chart...Nope, too pink...then to a paint store...I chose a darker color...Nope, it's too pinkish on the shutters...(I painted a small area) Walmart came closest to the color, but still, has a pinkish look...Now, what am I going to do with 2 gallons and a quart of outside pinkish-red paint??..ha

ahh I got my barnyard red at the oops paint in homedepot ...let me see if i can get the code for you...this color is perfect no pink tinge...

That is so true about the Barn Red paints! My spare room is this pinky mauve color-- very pretty (it was that color when I bought the house). And the name on the tin is... "Barn Red."

What in the heck kind of farmer would have a mauvy-pink barn, I cannot tell you-- But you can be sure the other farmers would keep their distance. :-)

Your mauvy-pink barn reminds of my FIL. When they moved from town to farm in the mid-50's there was only a tacky "pole" barn (aka shed) As soon as possible, they built a decent barn. Since my FIL was a scavenger, you never knew what he'd drag home. Well, someone had dumped gallons of red & gallons of white paint in a spot along the road used for a dump site. Mixed together, there was enough for the barn. And they had the only pink barn in the countryside! My FIL had a great sense of humor!
