I'm looking for ideas

Anyone have an idea for this dish. It's a whopping 8 feet in diameter.

I saw this on the side of the road, stopped the car, and my DW jumped out and inquired about it from the adjacent homeowner - he gave it to her. 10 minutes later two neighbors and I loaded it on my little truck, twenty minutes after that it was disassembled and in the back yard. Now to find a use for it.

First I'm going to use it as a mold to make the base of a birdbath/fountain. But then I'll still have it to do something with.

I know I've seen a pic somewhere but can't find it now where one of those large satellite dishes was used as the roof for a pergola.

The hospital where I work converted a dish into a fountain. The water creates a pool in the dish and then flows over the side to another part of the fountain. I would never have known if someone didn't tell me.

Going along with 8mpg, you could put a trellis on the outside "patch"; you can train vines up it or not, depending on what the trellis looks like.

Sue Brown, that looks great! I do like the shelf you have, though I'm in an earthquake zone so that's why I'm trying a niche at a lower height instead. Beth H, I like the simple look of your headboard and night tables. Painting the wall black is also a nice idea, though I can't use it as my wall has 2 openings into the walk-in closet behind it. Let me think of how to adapt it. P Banos, I've tried sliding doors in design #2 (the 3 panels with the paintings). Indeed, I've been trying too hard to have storage space inside the headboard (niche + shelves behind sliding doors) rather than in night tables. Perhaps that's a bad idea to start with. Sabrina, any opinion whether I should just do away with the niche? Thanks again, everyone!

Pictures please. Your post title says ’edging’ but we don’t know what you mean by that. Edging along flower beds? Along a sidewalk or driveway? Along woodlands? Edging really doesn’t have anything to do with leaves.

What about a cabana? Expand the pergola, add a canvas top for shade and built-in seating, a mini fridge, tv etc. Congrats on your new back yard, enjoy!

My first thought was the pergola too! I think it was posted here somewhere.

With your talents though, I'm sure you could do something really wonderful. It looks a lot like an ufo to me ...I'll bet you could add some little martians made from metal junk to go along with it!
