What to do with an old dresser mirror frame?

I have a dresser mirror with a thick wooden frame. The mirror is gone from it. What is the best method for the best-looking end-use product for maybe a collage of vintage family photos?

Or maybe a modification to make it a shadowbox of family treasures??

The 1st thing that popped in my head was from a recent photo I saw somewhere of a rather large empty wooden frame (probably was from a mirror too) that was hung with a framed picture inside of it. It was very eye catching, and the frames had 2 different finishes/colors. I'd love to do this project myself because I have a literal ton of empty frames of all sizes. I'd love to see what you finally decide to do with it.

I would try to fix the crack, if you can get the insert out of the door frame; that's just me - it would bug me. If you can show us the room and bed it's going next to, it may spur more suggestions. Another option for the top, if you have the painting bug and perhaps something on the top doesn't come off with sanding, would be to clean it and sand it smooth and do something like a faux marble paint job on it. It's really very easy. This was my first (and only so far) on the top of a small pine desk/table. I did it with acrylic craft paints. It doesn't show here, but it had a stain on the top from some very red colored stain that just wouldn't come off.

We used Classic Taupe in DS's new condo and love it. He has some black accents and it's very dramatic, but if you're going to use it, I wouldn't use the expresso towels. If you decide to use the black mirror I'd use some other black accents around the room. If you decide to use the espresso towels, (which are very cool) you could use a bronze or espresso color for the mirror. You could also use a chrome mirror and have the option of changing the accessory colors whenever the mood hits you.

Honestly, you are putting way to much into a space you will have to return back to OG when you move out. As far as the paint goes you get a color match done heck even ask the LL what color it was for touch-ups or something. Im not sure why you need to change it, and you are getting into stuff that is not really "quick rental fix" I could tell you a lot about how to do it but I really am wondering why you would want to put this much into changing 2 lights and a mirror, I think the mirror is really cute, fits the space Now you can buy plain frosted glass to put in place of that glass that is on the current light fixtures, upgrade the light bulbs and that would be a good start.

Just another thought on my post....if the frame is VERY large, you might consider using 2 or 3 framed pics, or even a bunch of other pieces inside the frame to make an interesting wall grouping? Thinking small mirrors, plaques, wall pockets, along with the usual pictures. And also come to think of it.....it might make a great "display surround" for family photos.

btw....love the organizer idea as well.
