ideas for sheet music

okay Im am going to be selling old sheet music for someone, I would love some ideas to give people on what they could do with it ....suck as decoupe a table or frame it....any other cool ideas anyone can come up with? or and if you got photos I could use that would be awesome also!!!

scrapbooking, framed, using as a background of a frame with a picture in front of it. I'm sure there are some more ideas out there.

Don't worry about learning one hand at a time. My son's piano teacher, with whom he has been studying for 10 years, always suggests starting out a new piece one hand at a time. Not learning it to perfection or the point of memorization, but just to be familiar enough to be comfortable. Here is an explanation from Wikipedia about the reason for different clefs: "The use of three different clefs makes it possible to write music for all instruments and voices, even though they may have very different tessituras (that is, even though some sound much higher or lower than others). This would be difficult to do with only one clef, since the modern staff has only five lines, and the number of pitches that can be represented on the staff, even with ledger lines, is not nearly equal to the number of notes the orchestra can produce. The use of different clefs for different instruments and voices allows each part to be written comfortably on the staff with a minimum of ledger lines. To this end, the G-clef is used for high parts, the C-clef for middle parts, and the F-clef for low parts - with the important exception of transposing parts, which are written at a different pitch than they sound, often even in a different octave."

Renee, I look for old sheet music to frame! Found a song with the name of our street in the title, and I picked up some seasonal/holiday music that I change out during the year. So fun! Fori, As for the music "library", I bought an old sheet music cabinet from a neighbor. The condition isn't great, but a word of caution: I think they are intended to hold SHEET music, not books. The shallow drawer bottoms are not solid but slatted, and don't feel super strong. It's cool, but not as easy to use unless you are very organized and know what you keep where. I also have a small metal Bisley 5-drawer unit (from the scratch-and-dent corner at a The Container Store, it's missing the bottom drawer, which leaves an open slot for music) Each drawer has one of those little slots that hold a label, so the jazz goes in one, the video game music printouts in another, etc. and we can find them, and put things away easily. The books are in two large "boxes" beside the piano: one is a sturdy basket, the other used to be a deep kitchen drawer. One sits on the floor under a small table, the basket sits on too of the table, which is just the right size to hold them. The music stands upright and it's easy to flip through. The whole set-up is not that attractive lol! My friend and here husband are both musicians, and they installed cabinetry in the living room for the music. Shelves close together to hold loose paper flat, and shelves spaced for books and binders, as well drawers for metronomes, pens and pencils, instrument tools, etc. The shelves are also attractively labeled to suit their needs; I think it's a removable/movable label. Our piano came after we'd lived here for a couple of years, it is in a corner but it is a great spot! In this living room, only a buffet or console type piece of furniture would work, because it's where you enter the LR from the foyer, so our console piano is perfect.

Im selling this for an older musician he played in the 40's there is over 400 pieces of sheet music from the 20's 30's and 40's....here is a pic of the table I found in the trash and used 2 of the sheet musics

I've used sheets of it to wrap small gifts. For example, one of my friend's last name is "King". I sent her a gift wrapped in Roger Miller's "King of the Road". One friend lives in Texas and has been promsising to come home to visit Arkansas for months. I sent her one in "Green Green Grass of Home"! LOL

lol I always want some different off the wall stuff like what thrift shop did....(i loved those photos thrift) and robo lady wow what you did with instruments .....decoupeing the table was fun but i guess somewhat normal with what you would do with sheet music lol...

My husband is a drummer, and the spare bedroom in the house is his "BAND ROOM". Last year I bought a large box of old sheet music at a estate sale and wall papered one wall in the room. Everyone thinks it's really cool. And it did turn out great.

MoJo, love the table you did and all the ideas other's have given. I was going to say, like Cammie, to wallpaper a wall. I think doing a half bathroom would be great too, so your guests have something to read, or sing, while they go. ;) I've seen maps used that way. Guess they can plan a trip while going then.

I also think decoupaging an instrument case would jazz it up a bit. Even a suitcase that's used for it's normal purpose or stacked and used as a table would look great. You can always add to any of the projects other items to break up an allover pattern of just the music with flowers or cutouts of something that goes with the lyrics. Like a Rose for the Yellow Rose of Texas and a buggle and guys in vintage military uniforms for The Boogie Woogie Buggle Boy by the Andrews Sisters.

Decoupage it to a chair that's used by a child, or adult, to practice their instrument of choice on.

Or what about all the plastic furniture like those put together shelving units, kids chairs and tables? Hey even an outdoor adult table using just the all over music pages as the background and the covers placed as placemates? Of course being used outdoors it would need a few top coats of a marine polyurethane, but I think that would be quite a conversation piece.

I'll stop now incase I'm boring anyone.

Robolady I'm very glad to see the link to your music page! I've been looking for some ideas for our piano room - and I love the story about that old water logged piano being recycled.

Some old music sheets are worth $$$--to collectors--I love your ideas now will start looking at farm estates for my scrapbooking ideas.
