Comforter or Duvet cover?
Comments (44)Here's how I solved my Duvet problem....I also put a sheet under my Duvet cover.............. I was finding it difficult when sleeping with the Duvet and the cover being used as a blanket , then, in the morning it was my bed cover....I'd be all wrapped up in it & it would get twisted as a blanket would.. I felt my bed was never completely made..How I solved this problem was...I bough & put on my Duvet, a White cover. Then I purchased 2 fancy Duvet covers , I like a change... I have the Duvet with the white cover tucked in at the foot of my bed...When I make my bed in the morning, I pull the Duvet up as you normally would..Then.., I just lay my fancy cover right over the top of the White one,,I also tuck that in at the foot of the bed. You would never know that the Duvet itself isn't stuffed into the fancy cover.. At night, I take the fancy one off & sleep with the white one that is permanently on the Duvet. That's the one the gets washed every so often.. You still can't get away from that lumpy look but I don't think its quite as bad when covered with the fancy one,,,..I guess there's no way of getting away from that completely.....It's a matter of getting used to.. Works for me.........See MoreDuvet cover without comforter
Comments (24)We have a beautiful chenille duvet cover that I use in my bedroom for fall/winter. As a woman of a certain age I had to stop putting the comforter inside because I got too hot despite the fact that we love a COLD bedroom. Now it's used like a blanket/instead of a blanket and tucked in all around. The down comforter is folded at the end of the bed to pull up when needed. Now my bed not only looks well made but is actually comfortable when sleeping in....See MoreComforter or Duvet Cover
Comments (10)Comforter! I hate duvet covers. The comforter (fake down) inside my duvet slides down to the foot of the bed if you don't clip, tie, or safety pin it in place. I bought a set of clips from BedBath&Beyond for the 4 corners and the comforter still gave me trouble. On DH's side it pulled out of the clip from him pulling up on the comforter. The sides still gave me grief because they don't stay where they should. So I bought more packages of clips until I had clips running up and down all sides. The comforter holds in place now (sometimes) but it's a PITA to wash the duvet because I have to go through the ordeal of unclipping and clipping. I also have to keep fluffing up the duvet. Sandwiching a comforter inside a duvet traps air which makes it warmer. Nice in the winter but too hot in the summer. If I could find a comforter in the color I need I'd scrap this duvet in a minute. Eventually I'm going to get so fed up I'll probably pay someone to make a comforter for me out of fabric I like....See MoreISO cotton duvet cover or comforter - please help!
Comments (2)Credomk, welcome to GW! You're right about getting some great ideas here. Have you thought of painting your furniture for a different look? Maybe you're not finding bedding because the furniture is a little outdated, and the bedding seems 'out of sync' with it. Penney's has some wonderful duvets as well as comforters and bedspreads, and they're not over-priced. Good luck. ;o)...See Moreorganic_smallhome
