I also had a tough time finding the right lights to match the faucet finishes I had selected. I ended up going with similar finishes (like you are considering) in the fixtures that I liked, vs compromising on the lighting to match the finish. In my powder room have a Kohler nickel faucet with a chrome chandi and in my girls' bath I have chrome faucets with polished nickel mirror frames and lights. I also found that polished nickel, brushed chrome, ss, etc. looked different depending upon the brand or even line so without seeing the fixture it's hard to tell exactly how it will look. Either way, I would recommend going with the fixtures you like because as others have stated without them right next to each other it will not be noticeable.

We have the same plaster problem and found a gorgeous set of 2 battery-operated sconces at QVC for 50.00. Real frosted glass shades and dark brown ( almost black ) real metal base and they're not cheap-looking by any means. They flicker like a real flame and cast a nice ambience glow of amber on the wall. Everyone who sees them in action think they're real gas lights. Contrary to the above posting...they have a battery life of about 500 ( yes FIVE HUNDRED hours ) I've had mine for almost 5 months and leave them switched on unattended for many hours at a time and batteries haven't needed replacing yet. The reason some of us think sconces on the large blank wall are not a good idea is because it's your only large wall you have to work with for decor, buffets, etc. If you wire sconces into that wall, they will really limit your ability to work with that wall as time goes on, as well as for future owners. I'd agree with kwsl re: no sconces on entrances if the entrances have doors, but your kitchen entrance doesn't, so I think those two walls are the best spot for your beautiful sconces. Be sure to put them on a dimmer. There are tons of options for decorating the large wall along with a painting/print. Also disagree with kwsl re: metal. What you actually have a lot of in that room is woodwork. Your color will be Hopsack, a bold neutral. To have metal on that wall would allow some light to bounce from the wall and assist the Hopsack in creating a lovely ambience at night. How about a couple of contemporary - to give the room some bling and eclecticism - sconces that hold candles, maybe with either a glass, mirror, copper…other metal backing for the flame light to bounce off of. Wall planters to hold some kind of flora. Floating shelves (or not floating) to hold topiaries or other decorative items. Personally I'd keep the windows as they are and not add drapes, but agree w/kwsl and others that drapes would soften things up a bit. I kind of like the idea of using a fabric that has some tangerine in it, which I think would be beautiful with the hopsack and all the white woodwork. Although, your inspiration pics are pretty monochromatic, so simple white muslin or linen drapes would be very elegant.

They are 'not too old".....meaning anywhere between 40 and 100 years! LOL! Would be good flanking the window....and "eyeball it " is also good. Place them about eyeball high...not so high that the candles will blacken the ceiling or so low as to be a danger to people passing by.
