Franksmom, my main flower garden is growing in somewhat similar conditions -- shaded by a giant tree until 11 to 12 and then fried in full sun until around 7. I've learned that shade plants won't thrive in this situation, so I'm always experimenting with full sun plants that (mostly) work. My main problem is some plants develop a definite lean that you have to correct or train (or ignore). Depending on how you feel about wildflowers, coneflowers definitely work -- I'm growing Echinacea angustifolia, E. atrorubens, E. paradoxa, and E. purpurea in the above garden. My go-to never die plants are perennial winecups (Calllirhoe involucrata) and mealy blue sage (Salvia farinacea); they don't seem to mind the reverse shade/sun, but the salvia does lean a bit. Also, I have a Gregg's mistflower that has worked well for years, and this year I'm trying a Havana snakeroot / White mistflower (Ageratina havanensis) that I'm pretty confident will grow in this area as well. As far as annuals go, Salvia coccinea pops up like a weed in this garden. I could check my records for other examples if interested. I've tried a lot of plants with various results, but I feel pretty confident with the above examples.

I don't think you should mess with the wall you show in your first picture because it's just gorgeous. On this side, yes, neither of those big things is doing anything good for you. It's hard to say how exactly to do it without seeing the new unit, but I would think specially designed shelving where the lamp is now would work. Here are three possible styles that might work for you. I don't have sources for the first two, but the clever corner shelves on the right are available as below. They all have a slightly Eastern look, don't they? The middle one is just a small hanging wall shelf, but the design might be adapted to create something bigger, I think. I also think the thick shelves in the first picture (which I love) would work well in a narrower size. https://www.amazon.com/Greenco-Corner-Shelves-Walnut-Finish/dp/B01MQGU4LZ/ref=pd_sim_196_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01MQGU4LZ&pd_rd_r=3XCFHZ8T2V6T5TG2G9C0&pd_rd_w=n30QC&pd_rd_wg=0jbZF&psc=1&refRID=3XCFHZ8T2V6T5TG2G9C0

Ah, gotcha. I misunderstood. I still do like those rooms and would consider them inspirational, at least partly. I am working around a few constraints for the room so maybe that accounts for the differences? - I need to find a chandelier that has a single round canopy, due to the way our ceiling is. In searching for a chandelier, it's been hard to find something that I think works with the room and has a single round canopy. - I really like the paned mirror in the first inspo room, but I'm looking to put one of those in the foyer. - I would like to find an affordable table that looks like the first inspo pic. I'm searching a local store's inventory for the table and chairs to find something we could potentially really get (and afford) instead of incorporating a picture of the *perfect* table that I don't know the make/price of. - I would also like to use parsons chairs for all of the seats, but I already have two and doubt I'd be able to match them easily to another 6. I think a contrasting chair type would be a better fit because of that. In the second insp pic I like how the room is generally neutral but has subtle color to it. I like the lantern light fixtures in that room but realize they won't work for my space. I also like the artwork in the room and I could use something like in my room in place of the circular mirrors. For my room, I knew I wanted to find a rug with a neutral base that had a few bits of accent color. The accent colors in the rug shown in the mock-up might be more vivid than I pictured in my mind, but I think they work. I also like the idea of an oriental rug that's not so traditional. I hope that helps explain?!? Maybe those rooms aren't exact inspirations. I'm still on the lookout for room designs to help guide me. My unusual dining room doesn't make it easy to compare online dining rooms to my own.

I have a day bed coming on Friday and I got a chase that looks a bit Victorian just randomly in the middle right now and a pub style table that I just painted white to also put somewhere in there. But I want to add bright color decor, lime green, turquoise, orange accents and keep the big pieces daybed, chase, table and curtains light and creamy colors to make as comfy as possible.
