Are you able to place the bed on the wall to the right of the entrance without impeding access to the closet? Then you would have a bit of room on the left window wall for a dresser and a small chair in the corner between those windows. You could reverse it but I'm one who prefers not having a bed directly below a window, so I suggested the other wall. The interior wall will also allow you to use a headboard at some point. If the rug stays, I would keep it at the same orientation so that when your guest gets out of bed they step on the rug.

I recently redid my DS's rooms (he just went off to college). What we did was to work with a black and grey color scheme. It gave it a more sophisticated look, very masculine. For his dorm room we did more of a navy and white color scheme (his furniture there is all oak). Again with black accents (desk chair, stacking storage cubes, etc). He recently bought some posters to put up. I think a nice neutral wall works well for allowing you to personalize your room with artwork, posters, bedding, etc. The paint we used was Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter whioch I highly recommend. It looks fantastic with black furniture accents. And for his curtains, we used painter's dropcloths; very inexpensive with a coarse feel to it. You room would look nice with an area rug (perhaps a geometric print?) If you will be having friends hang out in your room and are a young man living at home (I assume), I'd also look into a mini fridge. And, as I told my own son, there is nothing more welcoming for friends (esp. of the female variety) than having a neat and tidy room that doesn't smell like a gym bag! I bought him a room deodorizor from Linens 'n Things that you just leave in a corner and it absorbs orders, yet doesn't emit a smell of it's own.

is it double duty room? need for it to function as an office too? or do you want to convert it to guest room only? what has to stay in a room? what has to go? something you're especially attached to? remodel and decorating are two different things..I take it you want to restyle it rather than remodel? am I correct? the room has a good potential...love the floors determine the function you need to get out of it, and tell us a bit more about your preferences (style? color? anything we can know in order to be more helpful?) I imagine you'd need more lights..window treatments(even though I don't know whether you need them for privacy etc. But they'd make the space softer). Is the rug staying? if yes should go where serves a function, say next to a bed. But first tell us what do you expect out of this room in general

RL thank you so much for your wonderful ideas and taking time to photoshop some ideas. I never thought of 3 panel print and that gave me a thought. I enjoy quilting for a hobby and I must have some fabric to “frame out” like your pix. Hmmm. the white box is a cover to gain access to water pipes behind wall. So as long as I can move the items, we are good to go.
