Thank you, Hoovb and Kitty for your comments. Hoovb, you are quite right! Roses are a way better gamble than Vegas and less tacky too. Kitty, about Young Lycidas, it tends to have purple and pink leanings, all in one flower, although some blooms are a boysenberry color. The first flush was it's most beautiful, when it had magenta-pink with a lavender reverse. The photo I took was in bright sunshine and perhaps makes it look a bit pinker than normal. I think WS2000 is similar in color variation, except it is deeper in color and more crimson-like, with magenta and purple thrown in. YL is more lighter in feel, because it has a lavender reverse and some mauve with it's magenta-pink flowers. That being said, I'm thinking that YL was bred from WS2000 because there are some similarities in their colorway variability. Very beautiful! After seeing your hexagon mats, etc. I drove to Hot Springs, AR this weekend to buy the templates. If any of you are in the area the designers quilt shop, Hickory Hill Quilts, is great. I also had to buy fabric, a book and few patterns. I can't wait to start making the hexagon tablerunners and mats. Caroline has inspired me. Carolyn
