BB Gazing Balls

I just want to thank you all for showing so many of your lovely BB Gazing Balls , I ended up making three so far and plan on making a lot more.. have some orders for some and as soon as all this Christmas stuff is all over.. I am going to get back to it again.. I was busy making Grave Blankets and Christmas Swags this Christmas.. and making throws for some of the girls I went to school with.. I use the flat sided marbles..and I want to try a different one next.. maybe one with the photos under the clear flat sided marbles or etc.. They were a lot of fun.. Thanks again.. I love this site.

Well your welcome Joan, they are beautiful BB's aren't they. I made my first one last year (covered a 4" styrofoam ball with the half marbles) and used the base of a lamp for a stand for it. It looks real nice on my porch. You might also find some nice BB decoration on the Garden Junk forum - here's the link:

I haven't seen these but think you could easily find something to work if you know the diameter of your ball to use. I think they would be terrific in a metal hanging basket such as used for those with cocoa liners, or even an old kerosene lamp holder may work if you have the right size and use some form of fixative to hold it in place. My husband made a stand for mine with welding horse shoes together.

Wow, I saw the finished ones 1st! They came out fantastic! Wondered how cheap plastic was holding up BB's that is great recycling!! You mentioned doing a couple more! That will be nice also could be used to keep people off area you don't want them on. If you get extreme winds there you might drill holes deeper into balls & stick rebar in that will go into ground a little but would keep balls on their pedestals assuming pipes are hollow! Jan

Welcome to the junk yard!! If your gluing things to your bb. GE Silicone II clear for doors and windows. Check the date when you buy it cause it does go out of date. Extreme heat or cold will affect the drying ability. It comes in two sizes.. A small easy to hold size and a size that goes in a caulking gun. I use both sizes. If you grout make sure it's ok for outside... and seal with tile and grout sealer. If you are painting I like Krylon fusion for plastics. But people have used all kinds of outside paint. Take lots of pictures for us to drool over. HAVE FUN!!
