in need of advice for good overhead light for small kitchen

Well, I am about 75% done with my kitchen reno, and so far so good, except for one relatively minor glitch: one of the doors of a top cabinet bumps into my new ceiling light fixture when I open it. I can still get into the cabinet, but it's something I'd rather not live with. The GC told me to replace the 16" round light I currently have (it uses two 75 watt incandescent bulbs, and I am happy with that level of light) with a long, narrow flourescent ceiling light, and that will solve the problem, as it will leave enough room for me to fully open the cabinet door. However, I need a bright overhead light, and I'm confused about how much light a lamp that uses two T8 32 watt flourescent bulbs will provide, say in comparison to the two 75 watt incandescent bulbs I currently have. My kitchen is small, 11 feet by 6.5. Any suggestions? Thanks.
