I am sorry to hear that. Over the years, I have only purchased a handful of items from them. For some reason I never jived with their color schemes and I thought they were a little pricey. Guess we should be on the lookout for close-out sales. :-(

I thought their catalog was very nice. Sometimes I got ideas. I have 2 saved. If it's true I will miss it paging through it but I won't honestly, if someone hadn't had pointed it out I probably wouldn't have noticed.

I've browsed the store but have never bought. Too far out of my price range.

While I love their store and many of their products, the only thing I've ever ordered from their catalogs was our set of Calphalon Professional cookware . . . which is already in need of replacing. Personally, I think that s&h these days is so pricey that I tend to look for what I need locally whenever I can. I don't think I'll miss W&S's catalog, but would definitely miss their store if it closed.

Ever since W-S Home began, I've found myself wondering what their market niche was. The catalog contents have a definite style. I've never entered a W-S Home store, so I cannot attest to the quality, although it appears to be good, but I wonder what they add to the furniture marketplace that one cannot find in other furniture venues where there are more options that also include transitional, moderate to high end pieces at full retail pricing. I'd not order furniture at those prices from a catalog. I'd need to see it (and sit in it, LOL) before deciding. For a throw or a lamp, maybe. But it is primarily a furniture catalog, no?

They are entirely too pricey and I wouldn't buy there just for the name.

Although, I enjoy going into their store here, but geez enough already.

If I hit the lottery I would love to buy that french stove they have in there. It was $65,000, but I bet you could get it else where for less.

I don't get their catalog so I doubt I will miss what I never had. (lol)

I love their furnishings, but at that price level I would guess that most people would not shop through a catalogue.

I think this is just the home furnishings catalog, NOT the kitchen stores ... appears to be some confusion here.

I always loved the catalog: both for the individual pieces and for the room photos (inspiration photos for me). But I never bought anything (besides sale linens) for the reasons given earlier. First, I know I can get the same exact stuff for cheaper, mostly. And yes, I need to sit in a sofa before I buy it.

I'll miss the eye candy, though.

I got the home catalog for several years, probably because I have bought the odd item or two from the cooking catalog but I always thought the items overpriced.

I spent a long time looking for a pedestal bedside table and almost bought the one from WS Home but finally bought one from a Stanley line that I like so much better. It ended up being about 400 while the WS Home one was around 700.
I love perusing catalogs but as a diehard TJMaxx shopper, I know I will see a good deal of the merchandise the following year for a whole lot less. The small stuff anyway.

I still don't understand WS cooking store or catalog much.
A favorite place to browse ( dh likes it too- so he can sip coffee), and I may pick up the odd gadget or linen but most of those pots and pans and mixers are not exclusive to them and can be found so much cheaper than at their store.

Does anybody go in and buy All Clad there? I guess they do.
I do admire those Ruffoni pots, however...
But I found the Staub pumpkin pot that they heavily feature in autumn for a hundred less.
I have this genetic vein that always wants to get the best deal, sometimes it annoys me like crazy ...doesn't matter if it's a small item or big item...definitely made things difficult when we built our house.

Their targeted demographic for the home furnishings catalog was only to very high income households--So it was really niche marketing.

My friend has bought several pieces of furniture from WSH--last was a sectional for her FR, and has been quite happy w/the quality.

I agree with the targeted demographic, but as someone said, very often such buyers are using a designer anyway .. .so it was a niche within a niche.
