Bloomfield Hills is a gorgeous area especially Cranbrook they are dripping in money in that neighborhood. And what a absolutely beautiful home, pink and all. I love all that silver in that killer kitchen.

You know, it's funny -- but when I said I couldn't use pink, I was thinking of baby pink, bubble-gum pink, usual girl pink--but *coral* is an entirely different proposition. I do love coral, actually. Almost irrationally. It does something to me.

Oh yes Lurkiirish I grew up in Oakland County, but not Cranbrook. I have friends that live in Bloomfield but again not Cranbrook. I think that nut Robin Williams lived there and his dad was a big exec from Ford or GM.

Loribee, your pink drapes are beautiful! Pink is polarizing because it is so often poorly done, not a problem with your drapes.

The thing that struck me most about that house is that the pictures are terrible, just like regular folk's real estate listings!

I love the exterior of the home in MI. I lived in the Brighton MI area in the early 70's. I am sure a lot has changed since then.

The butler's pantry is beautiful and I love the white/blue breakfasr area and the beautiful white bedroom. The wall of mirrors in the one bedroom is a little much but not too bad. I really like the stripes ! All in all I would be outside so much on that gorgeous property that the inside would be the least of it LOL. Can just see all the purple shades I would use in the garden...:) c

Well, it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. There was a Med Revival house in my last neighborhood. My cousin briefly considered buying it. It was so pink inside...and badly done. Pink ceramic tile everywhere. It would have taken a ton of work to bring it back. That MI house would be pretty livable from the start.

What amazed me was the disparity between that to-die-for butlers pantry (an original which is being copied these days) and the appliances in the kitchen (1970's??). Hard to imagine an almost three million dollar house with such an outdated kitchen.

It is very sad to me to see what is happening in that area. There was an article in the NYTimes not too long ago about the demise of the real estate market in what used to be the bastion of auto-maker wealth. I so hope these houses will not crumble in the aftermath...

Loved seeing all the beautiful antiques!!! It's well staged. I was surprised where the little tiny table was placed, next to the chair? It was interesting to be a vouyer for a minute. When I sold my last home, a neighbor got a realtor just so they could "see" the inside of my home, They had no interest in buying it. The realtor showing the home was "pissed off" I was told. :0) 20 years ago we didn't have virtual tours. :0)

and it is supposed to be haunted! LOL! No -- we didn't see anything at all! :) I was too busy eating my soup and listening to a wonderful local musician ..... and people-watching (the live ones -- of course! LOL!)

I know Teacats I love that restaurant but for some reason I have never tryed the She-crab soup. I guess I just didn't know about it. I tryed their turtle soup in the late seventy's and it was yummy.

I have that bedroom above on my computer and toyed with the idea of doing a room like that. Great minds think a like. (lol)

Jane: It really is such small world isn't it? No I'm not from here originally, but I'm here now!!! Moved here from Sunny SoCal in 2005 and with the exception of the economy, we love it. We're actually a little north of Bloomfield Hills in the suburbs by Clarkston, but a I do a lot of work in BH.

In regards to the owners, nothing very romantic, as I understand it, it was the residence of a someone very well known in the plastics industry, some type of auto supply company and he passed away some time ago from cancer. I believe it's his family who is selling it.

Glad you enjoyed it, I won't hesitate to share again the next time I find something that I think might interest you.

Lurk, I know Clarkston well I use to go to the lake at my Uncle house and of course I have been to a million concerts at Pine Nob. I bet you have too unless they are not using Pine Nob anymore.

Do you ever ride on Lake St. Claire in Grosse Point and see all the gorgeous homes there? The Fords, Iacocca's all the auto giants live there. It is a great place to do a drive by with your camera, of course you might get arrested with all their security on guard. lol

It's so fun to see where new threads lead! What a hoot!

newdawn: I was in St. Claire yesterday for business but have never driven in Grosse Pointe, heards it's pretty though. Don't see many shows for Pine Knob I think they've switched things over to the DTE Center. But we live very close to Pine Knob, I love all the wooded areas and little critters running around. So different from the OC.

I love this pink sofa! It is just my style.

Thanks, Newdawn! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you to thank you for the compliment. I don't get to check in here as frequently as I'd like these days.
The sofa above reads as more of a rosy red stripe & cream on my monitor. It is adorable! I don't think rosy red carries the psychological baggage that a true pink does for many people.

The outside is regal and then... you open the door to a nightmare.

A major intervention or remodel needs to happen. I wonder how long it has been on the market.
