Grout day..pics of a few projects

Today was grout day....I don't know why I always wait and grout so many at once, but here they are:

I did this around valentine's day. GW find..slapped a coat of pink on it and miraculously mixed up grout to match!

A friend of mine's husband snores so loud she has to wear earplugs....the dog loves to eat them! So, I made this for her. It looks like I didn't grout, it's just that the grout is so close in color with the box.

I can't even pick a favorite! The grapes are super cool tho!

Joanne, if you did these as a "first-timer", its going to be amazing to see what you create in the future! Wow! I think everything turned out wonderful. I never thought of decoupaging on a bowling ball either. I've been planning for the looonnnnnggggggest time how to mosaic one, and done nothing. And can't draw to save my life. YOU have given me a new idea now tho. And to make these tributes to your Mom....how very special that is. I bet she is smiling down at you and saying "you go, Girl". I know the holidays are probably real tough on you this year. So try to think of her smiling at the things you are creating not only for her, but thru her and with her. Sluice, the rocks are moved with a hand truck (dolly) and some muscle. Occasionally I'll use a 2X4 as a lever to get the heavier ones in place. I can handle rocks up to a little over 500 lbs. this way. Thanks Sprucebud and Gary. Sprucebud the Picea glauca 'Pendula' is definately one of my favorites even though its pretty common. I got this one 5 years ago at 4 feet and it now tops 12 without this years full growth. Keith you're right the Pinus aristata 'Blue Bear', Pinus edulis 'Trinidad' and 'Farmy', and Abies concolor 'Charming Chub' all came from High Country Gardens this year. That mini bed with the Acer palmatum 'Sharp's Pygmy' in it is new. I was debating about switching out the small rocks because I found some I like better but it will probably be a moot point in a year as the ground covers will have it mostly covered by then. Thanks. Hi Dave, Thanks for the nice comments. As far as new garden projects go. This past week I moved 2.75 tons of weathered limestone outcroppings and made a new island bed that I ended up using all Spruces in. I used all existing plants moved from other areas of the yard and added another Picea glauca 'Pendula'. Here's a pic that shows the type of rock I used. I'll try to get some more soon. Also moving a couple of plants freed up some additional space to add to that new mini conifer garden which I'm excited about because I still have an order coming from Bethlehem nursery. Thanks again!

Fun, I used epoxy grout in the bath surround. Yes it needs more cleaning to remove, but not the horror stories I've read. I did use a tile sealer on the top of tile before grouting and often wonder if this made a difference. As with all reviews you are going to read the rough adventures. I can't remember if those who had problems were new at grouting or the type of epoxy used. The process and manufacturer is never really mentioned. Why not try it on a small board? I probably used this on a couple of square feet at a time and cleaned off as I went. My spacing is 1/4". It looks great, smooth and clean. Is as hard as regular grout, not sure why others had an issue with it staying soft. And I used a premix, which many said to stay away from. I haven't had to do anything with mine for 5 years. Will add that it looks a bit different than normal grout, but you would have to look close. Wipes down right along with tile whenever wanted. It definitely seals between the tile. Take a chance and sample it before the big job. They have small containers. Also, even though this worked for me and I would do it again, there is always the norm of wanting what has always been. Standard grout can still be the norm for many.

Thanks to all. Greenthumbfish, I saw that stencil at Hobby Lobby. I ended up passing on it because the repeat on the pattern was so small. I was afraid it might end up too busy. I wish they would have made a bigger stencil! Parma, I agree with you 100%. I think that day, my stiff upper lip was already starting to quiver b/c of the rest of the chaos I was having to be so strong about. Handling critique and suggestions (albeit harmless and trying to be helpful) that I had not solicited was just more than I could stand, especially when I thought I was pretty clear on the nature of the post. Again, it had nothing to do with the comments, and everything to do with the timing. Sometimes you just can't hear how you can be "better", especially when as you explained, "better" is so subjective to personal style. I will remember your words, though, and will make sure to laugh at myself as I count my accessories! Puna, I have to say I'm pretty dismayed as well. For the life of me, I can't figure out how removing those comments was necessary or helpful. (Yours and several others, including some of mine!) Ugh. LaFonda, yes, my stomach went into knots when the property manager called and said I needed to get over there immediately because water was "everywhere". I thought he was exaggerating. He wasn't. Ugh again. Joanie, I don't think I'll stop, but I think I may definitely change how I post photos. This post has served as very clear reminder of how some people think, and knowing I can't change that, all I can do is change how much of it I set myself up for. Patty, you got the whole point of the post; I was delighted to find something so pretty when I was going through something so horrid. Thanks for "getting it."

What great projects! The heart shelf is very sweet.. and that is a very thoughtful gift for your friend! I keep looking for old Scrabble games at the TShops... haven't found any yet... but I will! Wow! Nice job nipping those grapes!
(My other plan for the day is to grout a couple of things. *I* certainly know about "procrastination grouting!" :)

Everything looks very pretty and beautifully done. Love that earplug box, I think I need one too, I keep losing them. Are the switch plates plastic?

SLOW, I am humbled that you would want to copy the switch plates...looking forward to seeing that!

MEADEL and BIANCHI: Plastic. I just unscrewed them from the wall and started glueing...was too lazy to even wash them first! I found it was easier to grout just the top, like the second one, than to try and grout the whole thing.
Next time I'll scruff up the plastic, cuz the grout kept sliding off!

KATE: Have a good grout day....today my hands are trashed, I ran out of gloves and got impatient! Will be watching for your grout day pics!

Great job,love the grapes on the switch cover.Your like me ,I hat to grout and let things pile up then i have 5 or 6 in one day..I have vowed not to do that again!
