What Sherwin Williams Color for basement???
Comments (11)I'm another person using a cool color in a lower level (a half-basement, 3.5 feet below grade). Still, although windows are normal style and size, there aren't enough of 'em. So our family room is a low natural light area. I've done a ton of research on blue here, paying attention to blues that worked well for someone else in a low light setting. You'd still have to try these in the specific setting. For whatever reason, more Benjamin Moore colors are mentioned. Those could be matched by SW or just look for something similar. Here's a few to start with: BM Woodlawn Blue or BM Wedgewood Grey (same strip) BM Mount Saint Anne or Beach glass (same strip) BM Palladian Blue (very popular) A couple of SW colors mentioned: SW Sea Salt SW Hinting Blue SW Rainwashed One that sounds interesting to me, again not SW, but "works" in someone else's low-light situation is: Faro and Ball Borrowed Light Found it interesting that a comment on a thread here claims that Faro And Ball has the "best blues". So it has me curious. Anyway, sort of a starting point. Wellspring...See MorePlease post pics of Manchester Tan BMoore or any neutral color!
Comments (10)All paint colors have an undertone, even the so called neutral ones. Manchester Tan has a slight green undertone, but it's so subtle it's a good go to color. I'm not a color expert by any means, but I've struggled with neutrals and undertones. The undertones of what you pick should relate to your furniture, flooring, etc. I'd start with figuring out what the undertone of your cream furniture is. Are the floors wood? Carpet? If you do a google search for Manchester Tan, you'll see a lot of photos. I do have this in a bedroom in my house and feel it's lovely and a safe option. I actually recommend you check out Maria Killam's website. (I'm not affiliated.) I found it to be very helpful in piecing together what I knew didn't look right, but didn't know why. Here is a link that might be useful: Maria's blog....See MoreHelp with paint color (Sherwin Williams preferred)
Comments (3)SW has a program on their website called "chip it" which will help you pull colors from a sample and figure out what would work. Have you tried using that? most members will ask you for a picture of the area you want to paint, too! best wishes...See MoreManchester Tan or Halo? Can you share pictures if you have any?
Comments (25)aurora - I think with all your windows, the Manchester Tan would work in your room. I agree with above poster to paint a big area of the wall in your room. peony - sorry it didn't work for you, but thank you for sharing your experience. Good to know it might not work in a room with less natural light. I too noticed the green undertone when I had samples on the wall. In fact, at first I thought it would be too close to the green on my kitchen walls (BM Baby Turtle). Kitchen and family room are very open to each other. But, once the room was painted, I couldn't see any green undertones, even though it's right next to green....See MoreRelated Professionals
