What do you think of these chairs?

These chairs are listed on CL for $100 each - 2 chairs. Just curious what you think of the chairs and the price? I have been looking for a chair for my blue bedroom, and sort of like these, just not sure of the shape of the chair. In my bedroom it would be more a chair to catch clothes and maybe sit on briefly, but not to lounge in. Any thoughts on the price or the chairs?? wig

LOL, isn't that the truth! I am kind-of over it, though. I first saw the listing right after church and got excited, posted here, and didn't get any responses until checking now. I don't know, maybe I'm just tired. I'll contact the seller and see what I can find out about condition, etc.. The seat looks cane and I wonder if it could be used without cushion, although it would be more decorative rather than used. I could probably find a ready made cushion that would do. The main thing is condition and price. Perhaps I should offer $50 if it is in great shape. Not interested if it is not. I'll report back.

I saw them at the local CostCo Home ... they weren't what I would pay $300 for. It felt like Naugahyde car seats :( Bicast Leather: (also called bycast leather) is produced by splitting the thickness of the leather hide, producing a "top grain" and a "split grain" portion. A layer of adhesive is applied to the split grain, then a layer of coloured polyurethane film is rolled onto the surface. This film scratches and marks quite easily, but results in a leather which highly resistant to everyday spills.

I like it. All the ideas above -- even a closet chair for dressing and putting on shoes if you have the space in a walk-in or beside your closet. Would be really cute in a girl's bedroom, possibly a boy's, a guest room -- anywhere you might want to pull an extra chair up to a table. Would definitely change the fabric for my house, but that looks like it would be easy to do.

You know, you might want to consider a Saarinen tulip table (a version of the design, as the real ones are very spendy) to go with those marvelous chairs. The simple base and a pretty wooden top would look great with them, and you wouldn't have to contend with an apron or the feet on a more conventional pedestal. I can see the pictures in your last link. I think your instincts are right and they have an odd shape to them. I see them working more in the dining room for the head and foot of the table than in a bedroom.

I agree with valinsv that they appear to be host chairs, not wingback reading chairs that you might find in a LR or BR. The backs are very straight, the arms low (probably to clear the apron of the dining table), and the wings aren't deep enough to provide the user with protection from drafts, which was the original purpose of the wingback. I would pass at that price unless you really love them.

Wow, they are standing at attention there! How uncomfortable they look. They do look odd -- and too alert for a bedroom : )
